What he has dune in the caust is a sealed book to us. In a shor. time he is expected home, when hi will no doubt give a full account of his stewardship. Mr. Editor— The above attracted my eye in a recent number of the At 1 iiita Intelligencer, aud li is cans* and my busy brain to go to woik. Yon will doubtless remember the tremen dous furcr our people got up in favoi foreign of imigrr.tion, and one of tin. most active laborers in this new field of enterprise, was our esteemed coun tryman, Capt. C. W. Ho vard, of Kings ton, and after the crop had been cu - tivated by him, not slightly, but witl a 1 his usual energy, in steps Mr. Wei , and gathers the harvest, in the shape of two thousand dollars pev annum, and now, Mr. Editor, let me nsk you in all sincerity 7, why was this seleetio. made ? Was it because our Legisla tox’S did not want the Dutch ? I ap prebend this is the cause from theii actions, because no foreigners as a bo dy, are coming here They know that they come in contact with the Fifteenth Amendment, aud while the 15th is a citizen, and can exerciso the right of suffrage, they, the Dutch, are foreign ers, and therefoi-e not entitled to vole. All this Mr. Weil knows well, and i.o doubt has well educated his country men and advised them to stay at home, and now I ask, in all sicerity what has Mr. Weil ever done for our State that should make our Legislators vole him this mission, with the salary, and why do they want the German emigrants? First, I have never heard that Mr. Weil gave any of onr poor, iejn n, t farmers lessons in farming; nor hive I ever heard of his doing any other good thing for our State, except when he left it on a visit to his Fodderland, by the aid of our Georgia Legislature.— And secondly, I can’t see why the want any more of his kind, for it does seem to me that one of that kind is enough for our State, and really, I think if Mr. WGI wants to do some thing really handsome for us, he ought to remain in his Fadderland. But, Mr. Editor, permit me to offer one or two suggestions which, if adopt ed, will prove of incalliable advantage to our entire country, and especially will it b beneficial to you and I. Our Governor and Legislature are j accused of taking all they can get ! honestly, but it seems they have to di ! vide with too many, and thereby keep up a constant vacuum to be supplied. Now, it seems to me wisdom would say fill the vacuum, and then there is no more room, and consequently, no more desire; and now for the remedy. At the next meeting of the Legislature I propose another mission for my ben efit, to old North Corolina, (my Fad derland,) the object to negotiate for tar. Why, sir, in my boy-hood days well do I recollect this was the only ! paint used for painting fill carts, and every who came near left with stickey fingers, and this gives me the idea that if we had the tar, aud would use it to paint our railroad, cars, depots and Treasurer’s office, our fingers would be always sticking, and all the G. B.’s coming our way would stop with us, and no more divisions, would take place; and now for results: by the end of two or four years more, we would relieve all our fellow-citizens of taxation. How ? Why we would have I all the money and valuable property in the Staie, and would therefore have all the taxes to pay, and the outsiders coulL go about their business. Aiut this a grand occupation ? please apply for a patent for me on this, and a poi ! icy on my life also, because the life of a | man who can originate such an idea I ought to preserved. And you, Mr. Editor, will have a j nice place, provided for you—l will | attend to it; you do not say anything | against us, aud we think you a very j clever fellow. Therefore help us put! j this mission through, and it will boa | light job, because the Georgia Legisla- I I ture will see the feasibility of the plan ! as soou as they read it, aud the thing is done; and when this comes to pass then I propose a foreign mission for you. Yes, you are the right man in tiier ight place, oMy your sphere is too circumscribed. You must be enlarged. How? why, when I get my foreign mission all arranged, I will nave one arrange 1 by the Legislature for you. We will send you to Texas to purchase a cargo of Texas cow-horns, at a fine salary, and when you return your sal ary is to be continued, because we will want you to continue to blow our horns for ul ’ Oid Un, YIGiRIBE A ( 0., ATLANTA, GEORGIA, Agent* For Cioorgijn, and Ala.
