California will elect Chief Justice of the
Supreme court, associate justice ot the

Connecticut will elect State 1 officers,

Delaware will elect Legislature and one

Georgia will elect State officers and
Legislature, and vote upon a proposed
constisutional amendment to increase
the number of Supreme court judges
from three to five on Wednesday, Octo
ber 3. Will elect Congressmen Novem
ber 6.
Illinois will elect State officers. Legis
lature and Congressmen, and vote upon
a proposed State banking law, Novem
ber G.
Indiana will elect State officers, Legis
lature and Congressmen November G.
lowa will elect minor State officers and
Congressmen November G.
Kansas will elect State officers, Legis
lature and Congressmen, and vote upon
two proposed constitutional ameudments
November G. One amendment strikes
out the word “white" in aclause relating
to the militia, and the other concerns
the purchase, enjoyment and descent of
property.
Kentucky will elect Congressmen No
vember 6.
Louisiana elected Democratic State
officers and Legislature and voted upon
six proposed amendments to the Consti
tution of the State on Tuesday, April 17,
These amendments related to Tulane
University, the selection of levee commis
sioners, the terms of the district courts,
the New Basin canal and Shell road, the
succession in event of the death of the
Lieutenant Governor, and the exemption
of certain property owned by religious,
educational or charitable organizations
from taxation. Will elect Congressmen
November 6.
Maine will elect Governor, Legislature
and Congressmen, and vote upon two
proposed amendments to its State Con
stitution on Monday, September 10.
One amendment makes the State Treas
urer ineligible for re-election after six
years’ successive service; the other pro
poses a restoration of the annual ses
sions of the Legislature.
Maryland will elect Congressmen No
vember 6.
Massachusetts will elect State officers,
Legislature and Congressmen Novem
ber G.
Michigan will elect State officers, Legis
lature and Congressmen, November C.
Minnesota will elect State officers, Leg
islature and Congressmen November 6.
Mississippi will elect Congressmen No
vember G.
Missouri will elect State officers, Legis
lature and Congressmen November 6.
Nebraska will elect State officers, Leg
islature and Congressmen November G.
Nevada will elect Supreme Judge, four
Regents of the State University, Legis
lature and one Congressman and vote
upon four proposed amendments to the
lit ate Constitution, and also upon the
question of holding a Convention to
frame anew Constitution, November G.
One of the proposed amendments, dis
franchises polygamists, one authorizes a
lottery, t*he third relates to comity offi
cers and the fourth prescribes qualifica
tions for holding office.
New Hampshire will elect Governor,
Legislature, Congressmen and delegates
to a Convention to revise the Constitu
tion of the State November G.
New Jersy will elect Legislature and
Congressmen November 6.
New York will elect. Governor, Lieu
tenant Governors, Associate Judge of
the Court of Appeals, Assemblymen and
Congressmen November f>, and vote on
a proposed amendment to the State
Constitution, which provides tha* upon
certification-of the Court of Appeals to
the Governor that its calendar is
crowded the Exective shall appoint a
second part of the Court of Appeals,
consisting of seven Supreme Court
Judges, to try cases which shall be as
signed to it by the regular Court of Ap
peals.
North Carolina will elect State officers
Legislature and Congressmen, and vote
upon a proposed amendment to the
State Constitution increasing the num
ber of Supreme Court Judges to five No
vember 6.
Ohio will elect minor State officers and
Congressmen November 6.
Oregon elected Republican Congress
men, Supreme Judge and Legislature, on
Monday, June 4.
Pennsylvania will elect Supreme Judge,
Auditor General, Legislature aud Con
gressmen, November G.
Rhode Island elected Republican State
officers and Legislature, and adopted a
constitutional amendment enlarging the
suffrage on Wednesday, April 4. Will
elect Congressman November G. The
suffrage amendment adopted places for
eign-born citizens on the same footing as
native-born, provides for a poll tax and
does away with the registry tax, but it
will not become effective until the spring
election of 1889.
South Carolina will elect State officers,
Legislature and Congressmen, Novem
ber G.
Tennessee will elect Governor, Legisla
ture and Congressmen November 6
Vermont will elect State officers, Leg
islature and Congressmen on Tuesday,
September 4.
Virginia will elect Congressmen and
vote upon the question of holding a
Convention to revise the State Constitu
tion November G.
West Virginia will elect State officers,
Legislature and Congressmen, and vote
upon three proposed amendments to the
Constitution of the State November G.
These amendments prohibit the manu
facture and sale ot intoxicating liquors,
relate to trials by jury and limit the ses
sions of the Legislature to sixty days,
unless extended by concurrent vote of
two-thirds of the members elected to
each house.
Wisconsin will elect State officers, Leg
islature and Congressmen November G.
