COMPLIMENTING A BARTOW MAN.
The Impressions Created by Col. Waring
in Philadelphia.
Home Tribune.]
A gentleman writing to this city from
Philadelphia deservedly compliments a
prominent North Georgian. His letter
was private and not intended for publica
tion, but it shows so well how Georgia
was regarded there and how our repre
sentatives bore themselves, that we ex
tract a paragraph: “Since my return I
have been very busy helping to entertain
the na val, army and militia officers who
have been paying a visit to Philadelphia
to aid us in celebrating the centennial of
the signing and promulgation of the
Fuited States Constitution, and let me
add by way of parenthesis that the three
most prominent visitors were President
Cleveland, Gov. Gordon, of Georgia, and
Gov Fitzhugh Lee, of Virginia. They
were received everywhere with acclama
tions and were followed by crowds in the
street, cheering for them and their States
I had the pleasure of a few minutes’ con
versation with Gov. Gordon and did my
best to answer and introduce at the club
Col. Waring, of his staff, who in the
hours he spent with us, made himself so
popular he had trouble to get away in
time for his train.”
Col. Waring is an elegant gentleman of
the ante-bellum type of manner, and
Georgia could not have been better repre
sented than she was by him He is a resi

On our fourth page this week will be
I found an attractive advertisement of a
I land sale that is to take place in Cartel s
} ville on the 27th. These lots are very
desirable and are in a good local
ity. Those intending to secure them a
good home could not do better than to
invest. The gentlemen owning the land
are public-spirited enough to put the
ball in motion, now let it lie kept rolling.
They are aware of the fact that the high
prices of some grasping property own
ers have scared many prospectors off to
other towns, and now they propose to
show to the world that that kind of spirit
does not prevail entirely To the high
est bidder will the lots he sold The in
terest that is centering on Cartersville is
increasing and healthy signs are plainly
apparent As an investment these lots
will psove good.
Rev. .Joe Jones in Kansas.
His many friends and admirers will he
glad to learn of the Rev Joe Jones suc
cess in his evangelical field lie has just
returned from an extended trip to severu
camp meetings and is full to overflowing
with admiration for the cordial manner
in which lie was received and treated.
The Democrat, published at Benton ville,
Ark., has this to say of our fellow
citizen:
In company of friend Bumlmrger and
wife, the editor hereof and wife attended
Joe Jones’ camp meeting at Elm Springs,
last Sunday VVe were surprised at the
immense crowd in attendance. Payne
wotcher informed us that 1,500 vehicles
were counted on the grounds. They
were mostly wagons and hacks, and
would easily average four persons, This
would make 6,000. There werehundreds
who came on horseback and on foot, and
the entire crowd may be fairly estimated
at seven thousand A remarkable fea
ture was, they were listeners to the
speaker, and we never saw a man hold
his audience so well in hand as did Mr.
Jones on this occasion He is equal and
in some respects superior to his brother
Sum. The secret ot the success of these
men is the freedom with which they talk
and the plain and homely and sometimes
humorous way they have of illustrating
the truths they tell.
We never heard anything like the ser
mon of last Sunday. It surpassed any
thing we had ever read from Sam Jones,
and the roughness and what is termed
the “slang” used was tempered arid modi
fied by the manner in which he used it —
by what preceded and what followed it,
and the great truth it so pungently ap
plied The citizens of Elm Springs and
neighborhood talk of building a taberna
cle to cost about $5,000 If they do so,
Joe and Sam Jones will hold a two weeks’
meeting every year in August or Septem
ber at that point. The camp meeting
closed on Sunday night, and on Monday
Mr. Jones came to lien ton ville and
preached that night in the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church, and also on Tues
day, day and night.
From our Western exchanges we see a
great many complimentary notices of
Mr. Jones, all of which he eminently de
serves .

South ; of one 1 took seven bottles and of an
other three, neither of which did me any good.
Finally I was pursuaded to try Hunnicutt’s
Rheumatic Cure. After taking one bottle and
before the second was all taken 1 began to im
prove, and before I had taken the sixth bottle i
was cured sound and well and I now feel like a
new mfin. 1 can now walk miles in a day and
work outdoors in any kind of weather without
the slightest inconvenience. I do not believe your
Rheumatic cure has an equal in tlie world. 1
have recommended it to many of my friends,
who have used it and are highly pleased with the
result . Ido not believe there is a case of acute,
inflammatory or chronic rheumatism that your
remedy will not cure if taken according to direc
tions and persevered in. I have almost dally
calls from persons inquiring about the Rheumatic
Cure. One old tnan came into m.v place of busi
ness yesterday and told ine that one bottle had
done him more good than all the medicine he
had ever taken for rheumatism.

An interesting letter from Air. John AY.
Weeks, superintendent of DeKall) Pauper
Home:
From a feeling of gratitude and a
desire to benefit others, I voluntarily
make tins statement. I have great
reason to be thankful that 1 ever heard
of B. B. 8., as 1 know what a blessing it
has been to me. I have suffered with
Bronchial Catarrh for a number of years.
Six months ago I was taken with severe
pain in right ear, which in a few days
began to discharge matter, with terrible
and almost unbearable palpitation and
all sorts of noises in my head. In ten
days after the commencement of dis
charge and pain in my ear 1 began to
grow deaf and in six weeks I was so deaf
that 1 could not hear thunder.
1 wan then compelled to nee conversation tube,
and it was often that I could not hear with the
tube. I then commenced taking: IS. I!. 15. and the
running' of my ear ceased running in five weeks,
and can now hear without the tube. M.v general
health has improved, palpitation ceased, and
feel like anew being, and appreciate the benefit
I have received from 15. 15. It. (made in Atlanta,
Oa.) with gratitude to God and thankfulness to
the Proprietors for such a medicine. I cheerfully
recommend it to all who are affieted with deaf
ness and catarrh. Try it; persevere in its use
and vou will be convinced of its value.

I secured and am using (15. 15. 15.) Botanic Blood

quickly, and lam delighted with its effects. I
had previously used a large quanity of various
advertised remedies, and several eminent physi
