RAILROADS.
In addition to its being the main town
on tin* State road, or W. A. A. it. It., it is
the northern terminus of the Birmingham
and Partersville, or East and West rail
road. On this road, near by, are inex
haustible beds of coal, and in contempla
tion is a road from Carters viile to Gaines
ville, giving it unequalled railroad facili
ties.
WATER.

MINERALS.
'file mineral wealth surrounding Car
tersville places her at the head of any
point in Georgia, if, indeed, it does not
{put her at the head as the steel-making
city ot the South. Major Campliell Wal
{ lace—and who is better authority?—says
her mineral resouees are not second to
those on which Birmingham depends.
Professor .1. 1). Caldon, mining en
gineer, and probably the best posted
practical engineer in the State, who has
just returned from a two weeks explora
| tion of the country, making up
I the collection for the exhibit at
the exposition, said, when in
| terviewed: “Your mineral resources are
| immense, surpassing anything l had ex
i jiected. I have found more mineral, and
! in quality very much finer, than can be
| found in the great, booming Birmingham
I district. You have nearly all the oreslaid
down in mineralogy. You have manga
j nese in great profusion and of all grades.
I Yours is very fine, indeed. You have the
manganese dioxide, psilomelone, bog
manganese, rhodochrosite, manganese
j carbonite, wolframite, iron manganese,
I tungstite, gothitcs, eorbonate of zinc and
! manganiferous ores in the greatest pro
i fusion; while your specular iron ores can
j not be beaten anywhere. A great variety
. of ores and of such fine grades will be
\ hard to find anywhere. In the country
! rocks you have the quartize, chert,
I itacalumyte, guess, gneissoid, calcite and
others. Your micacious sjiecular ores are
{ pefectly grand. In a few years this sec
-1 tion will be the scene of great develop
ment.
BUSINESS, HOMES OR INVESTMENT.
The history of Birmingham will lie re
peated at ( artersville, only, we think, on
a grander scale; for here we have good
| water, good drainage and NO MIASMA.
