The recent investigations into the practice of hazing at W est Point Military Academy has culminated in the passage of a measure by the Nat ional Assembly, which, if enforced, must result in the abolition of the disgraceful practices which have been going oh at that school. The bill provides for the dismissal of all cadets violating the measure by attempting to haze or encourag ing in any way the same, “any cadet, who shall direct, invite or request any candidate or cadet to cat or drink anything for the purpose of punish ing, annoying or harassing him, or who shall without lawful authority direct or requite any candidate or ca det to brace or engage in any form of physical exercise.” After dismissal for any of these causes no cadet may be reinstated and it further provides against Ins appointment to any position in the army or navy department of the gov ernment. Tlic measure is very com-prehen- siyc and is severe enough, it is hoped, to stop hazing entitely. Every ciu zen who has noted the recent expos ure has looked with shame upon the practices allowed at. an institution established by the government and sustained by a tax on the people. A contemporary is puzzling its mind over the question ot English Diil.es for o'-.r American heiresses to wed when Nfisa Aster lias wedded tho'Duke of Roxbursrlie. And sug gests there will remain but two, and one of them of questionable sanity. Delict should be found m the reflec tion that it’s not brains nor brawn that tempts American girls in their mad grapplings after European Dukes. And besides, we fail to set- why all the insanity should be mani fested by the party on this side the waters. Why shouldn’t the “entitled” duku be subject to dementation as well V Miss Carrie Liiniekin, of Pittsburg, l’a., has begun a crusade against cig arettes which should reach from Maine to Texas and all the coasts around. We wouldn’t advise Miss Carrie, however, to be “carrying on” after the manner o( Mrs. Carrie (N r a tion), of Kansas fame. It may do all right, for a woman to smash bar- roam with a little hatchet but it wo ldn’l do for pretty Miss Limit kin to venture too nigh the lips of the cigarette fiend—she might get bit or mayhap his breath might prove a deadlier weapon still. Anyway, there’s danger in it. It strikes ns that the United States Congress has no more, fire eating, un compromising member than Mr. Selt zer, one of New York’s representa tives, This distinguished gentleman The Pelham Home complains that haa a wa >' of aUacki "K everything in the big dailies print too much about w & !,t without stopping to question Our devil hopes tlmt the marriage of Miss Astor to an English duke wont prove such a disaster after all. An exchange says: Laugh and the world will laugh with you. But not if Y°" are laughing at your own juke. Th« improved physical condition of congressman liartelett will be glad news to his many Georgia ad mirers. The framers of the Cuban Consti tution will probably complete their 111 tors in tune to forestall an extra session of Congress. The Colquitt Co inty Courier out fit lias been sold to S. E. Its “learn to labor and to wjit” t longboat life’s way, and if man kind labored one-half the time they wail, why a great ileal more would be a u omplished. A Kentucky man is the father of a midget girl that weighs less than two pounls. The babe wm born with a f.,11 set of teeth, and is well develop ed in every way. The birth rate in New Jersey de creased 30 pet cent during the past year, and the Madison -Advertiser thinks a baby trust must have been formed in that states. It wont do too pin to much faith to the other fellow’s efforts. The world may owe you a living but she’ll nev er heap her treasures into the lap of the idler. Gel out and hustle! An Absolute y Safo Sh.tve at -the Nsw CITY SHAVING PARLOR,-A Ccnepicicus Stand Next Door to City Post Office. Our plan of shaving is so complete that we can prevent infection or inoculation by so called noxious or poisonous germs. These troubles are of tunes contracted from one to the other by reason of using the same razor or brush on every body. Now how we prevent such troubles we have a sterilizer, a nickel plated concern in which wo always keep hot boiling wa ter. We put a certain quantity of Anti- reptiola. then every barber after shaving each customer places his razor over the Sterilizer into tho boiling water, let.tiug remam for a few minutes. After shaving we use a portion of that Antisept.ioia on each customer's face. By this method we can assure you a safe shave.
