The writer is well known to every citizen of the county snd is well kuown all ovyr the state and is one of the very tew remaining wit nesses to the interesting history re lated by him. Tbis contribution to the county’s history will prove a val uable record for future reference and its perusal will be interesting to both the old and the young. Sheriff Fordham, of Bainbridge, brought a negro here last Friday and delivered him to Sheriff Conoly. The negro had escaped from Brice’s gang several days ago and had succeeded in getting as far as Bainbridge when he met Sheriff Fordham riding m wagon along the road and asked him tor a ride. The sheriff had received notice of his esoape and a description of him and recognized the negro at once. He allowed him to ride bat to the negro’s surprise would not allow blm to alight when be arrived in town. He was sent to Bnoe’s on Saturday.—Quitman Advertiser. luli Bainbridge, Ga.
