The attention ot our readers is
directed to the display ad. on the
first page of this issue, of the Geor
gia Southern Military College of this
city. Our citizens fee 1 a just pride
this excellent institution. The
success which attended the efforts ot
the trustees and faculty during the
first term is a sufficient guarantee to
the people of this section of its future
high standard as an educational in
stitution. Col. Dunn proposes to
make this school at least the equal
of any of like rank in the s^ate.

Has a cow a cud? This is the qties
tion that has been troubling George
McNair's mind for the longest. In
fact, he has about reached the con
clusion that a cow has no cud, and
the public is looking forward with'
much pleasure to a “jiut spute” be
tween him and County Ordinary T
B. Maxwell, who clings to the idea
that a cow muH have a oud or she
couldn’t well get along, iiould she?
Mr. McNair is a man of flesh, the
weather is hot, and as the question
is necessarily a “tough” one, the de
bate will be postponed until some
time during the early winter mouths.
The Earnest Workers organisation
of little girls of the Presbyterian

to their many patrons. The 4th Reg

Workers with sweet music, -adding
much to the pleasure of the occasion.
A neat sum was realised tor the pur
poses of the organisation.
The session of the Presbyterian
church has secured the acceptance ot
Rev. Paul F. Brown, of Knoxville,
Tenn., to fill the pulpit. The church
is indeed fortunate in securing such
an able and earnest divine to take
its pastorate, aud all the people of
our city will share with the member
ship in thwr good fortune. Mr.
Brown will be here to take charge
of the church by the fourth Sunday
in this month.
