There would be nothing wrong about this bad not the mischievous rascal broke in and ale up the lawn, the lady was annoyed and sorrow was brought to the hearts of her in tended guests. Now, we wouldn’t for the world suggest the identity of the lady, and we have considerable don Pis as to the whereabouts of the calf, but we have been reliably in formed that he will not again break into her arrangements. It is said that the guests “kept off the grass” on the appointed night as there was no party. • Reports come in from Fowltown in the lower part of the coun.y, of an unusual oco trronce which took place ne«ar there last Tuesday. Dur ing a thunder storm of some severity a small negro cabin was struck by lightning and nearly demolished it, chairs, tables and other furniture were literally torn to pieces. At the time of the stroke a halt dozen negro women were in the house and the remarkable part of the affair was that none of them were injured further than a few' cuts received by flying pieces of glass. The negroes of the community were considerably wrought up oyer the offair. It will be a matter of interest to the friends of Rev. C. R. Nisbet, former pastor of the Presbyterian church in this city, to know that he has been called to the pastorate of the Westminster Presbyterian church in Atlanta.. Mr. Nisbet, while a resident of Bainbridge made hosts of personal friends and his de parture from here was greatly re gretted. .The ever alert G. F. & A. Ry. captured for shipment the first bale of new cotton received at the Bain- bridge market. The shipment was made by Ehrlich & Co and consign ed to .Tno. Flannery & Co.. Savannah Ga. The G. F. & A. claim to have put on the quickest through freight line between this point and Savan nah. See display ad. of A. J. Macdonald, the new hardware dealer on Water St. He will keep on band every thing found in an up to-date hard ware store and we bespeak for him file liberal patronage of the public. Mr. Macdonald has recently moved to our city from Tiiomasville where he has been a successful hardware merchant for a number ot years, It is to be hoped that some of the crack shots ot the Bainbridge lude pendents will carry off the gold med al at Albany next month.
