Bower Want* The Station. Hod. Byron Bower, of Decatur, is already working to secure the loca tion of the south Georgia expreiment- al station 111 Decatur cotnty, and will introduce an amendment to the ex periment station bill to that effect. Mr. Bower talks very interesting ly of the reasons for locating this station in his couniy. “It is not generally known,” he says, “that the largest cigar tobacco plantation in the world is located in Decatur county. The cand and sirup industry is larger than in any other couoty in the state. Decatur •county produces the finest sirup made from sugar cane and ships that product in large quantities to nearly every large city in the union, so great is the de mand on account of its fine quality. “Much of the finest western beef shipped to Georgia is raised and fat tened in Decatur county and shipped to the great western packing houses. The west side of the county is a great cattle and wool raising section. The products of the county’s soil are the most diversified of and county in the state. While long and short cot ton continues to he the staple pro duction, many of our farmers make snug incomes out of truck farming, the soil congenial to nearly every character of vegetables. Decatur county is also the largest county the state, and should the legislature see fit to locate the station there the thrifty peoalo of that county will give it their most generous enoour' agement and support.” Grenada The Equitable Assurance [Strongest in the W01M.] DRUG COMPANY “INC ORPORA TED?' The temperance committee lias reported the bill favorably and has recommended that it pass. Mr. Wright, tiie author, contends that the biH will solve the liquor question in Georgia, if it is passed. He says tiie counties will have the privilege or voting for three things, where, aa present, they can only vote for two. He says it will give counties Lite right to have dispensaries when a majority of the voters declare for for them, but under the present law the counties can only vote on two ihinga, total prohibition or barrooms. Mr. Wright introduced this bill at the last session of the house, but owing to the great pressure of busi ness before that body the bill was continued over until this session. Three hundred copies of the bill have been printed for the use of the house, and Mr. Wright has made the request that the members cf the house read it. over before it The Georgia Legislature did its best days work when it passed tha anti cigarette bill.
