The lines of the Postal Telegraph
Co. will reach Bainbndge the com
ing week. It is understood Mr.
Hamil with the Western Union will
be appointed manager.
The following is from the New
York Dramatic News: “Miss Bren
nan is beautiful and the embodiment
of grace, aud won the praise and
plaudits of the most critical audi»

We should call attention to the
change in the ad of Chason and Lane
of lrjn City. They are thoroughly
up to date merchants and sell only
the best grades of goods on the mar
ket.
We would cal' attention to the
number of desirable houses which
Messrs. Townsend and Westmore
land have tor rent. Vou will find
their ad elsewhere m this issue.
We appreciate very much the
great assistance rendere 1 us m get

Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Perry left for
Newton Ga., last Monday morning
being called there to attend the last
sad rites to the lamented Mrs. Juo.
O. Perry, who died Sunday.
No one can doubt that our Mayor
is a hustler could they see him rush
ing around this week attending to
the basiness for the Carnival.
Are many of the nature loving
people of Bainbridge satisfying their
esthetic natures by enjoying the glo
ries of the blushing frost-kissed
autumn leaves.
On Tuesday there were many ru»
mors afloat that the colored woman
Ella Whaley, who died so suddenly
the first of the week, had been poi
soned. A post mortem examination
was held however and it was seen
that there were no grounds whatever
for the report.

main until her health is fully

hope will be very soon.
Invitations to the wedding of Miss
Eleanore Hickney and Mr. Harry
Ffloyd both of Appalaehiccla Fla.,
have been sent out. The ceremony
is to take place Saturday afterroon
Nov. 2!lth in St. Patrick’s Chutch.
The groom is well known in this
city and Ins friends wish him all
happiness.
It is a dangerous matter to walk
on our streets after hard rains or
during rather nigh winds, as there
are many dead limits overhanging
the side walks, winch are frequently
falling and it is marvelous that the
people have eserped injury so far.
It would he well, we think, if the
stieet committee would have these
limbs cut out.
Mr. Geo. O. Smith, who was here,
last week, tells us that he will open
a large general brokerage business
in Hanford, Ala., which live town
is said to owe its prosperity almost
entirely to Mr. Smith’s energy and
ability as a promoter of commercial
enterprises.
The writer was given a most de
lightful treat a few days sinje by
having the opportunity to examine
the work of Miss Harrison’s art
pupils at the G. 8. M. C. Miss Har
rison assuredly has every reason to
be proud of the beautiful pictures
and china that adorn the studio.
We publish in this issue a letter
from Mr. Otbo Benton who is at
tending the State University. We
feel that it will be widely read by
those who are interested in higher
edocation, and this ought to include
every reader of the Search Light.
We notice that the Bainbndge Oil
Company has freight depots and
cotton seed warehouse* all along the
A C. L. Railway. Ours is oue of
the very few mills built this year
that are as yet in operation. The
