for a lengthy visit to relatives and
friends in Albany, Montgomery and

The season for pionies is fast ap
proaching and many plans are ma
turing for pleasant days to be spent
m the woods.

We need a federal building in
Bainbridge, as we have remarked be
fore. Let the Board of Trade try
to get one for us.

The Presbyterian Congregation
raised quite a large sum at a congre
gational meeting last Sunday. They
hope in the course of a few weeks
to again take up the work of com
pleting their charcb.

has been bought out by Messrs.
Woodbury and Chison. VVe are
glad to correct the mistake.

lengthy article on Mr W. M. Blount
president of the U. S. & M. Railway.

Mr . Blount has not aged since leav
ing Bainbridge. Mr. Blount’s friends
anh acquaintances in this place will
be glad to learn of his prosperity.
We are informed that next year
the Bainbridge people will be treat
ed to only the yery best attractions
making southern tours. Recent ar
rangements have just been comple
ted with both Klaw and Erlangcr,
and the American Theatrical Co. to
procure for ns the best shows. We
are heartily glad to hear this as we
believe that a good play is a potent
factor in the education of any com
munity.

Prevatte. managers of the Bain
bridge opera house are endeavoring
to perfect arrangements to have
Governor Bob Taylor lecture in this
city in the near future. This dis-
tinguisned Southerner need not a
word of introduction to our readers
and wc trust that the managers of
our local boards will be able to pro
cure this great attraction.
The Bainbndges Woman’s Club
met with Miss Jackson Thursday.

The ladies of the Memorial Asso
ciation have teuured Gen. Clement
A. Evans of Atlanta as orator for
the occasion. We will be very for
tunate in being able to bear this dis
tinguished Georgian on the day
which we have set aside as a memo
rial to our departed heroes. By an
act of the Confederate Veterans
when in session at Dallas Texas.
Memorial Day has been changed
from April 2bth to June 3 and the
members of our local association
have decided to have the exercises
on the latter date.

The popular price show of the

tion on Mie local boords this week.
Our mornings the past week have
had a touch of whiter iu them that is
very pleasant to remember during
the warm part of the day.
Messrs. W. M. Harrell, S. Russell
Brinsou, A. L. Townsend and Mar
vin Townsend took the trip to Apa
lachicola on Tuesday returning the
latter part of tbe week.
A few days ago wo climed to the
top of the new court house tower
and there gained a view of Baip-
bridge sueb as we had never pre
viously seen. Mho glorious oaks,
our century plants, were jus begin
ning to don their costumes of green
and of the many different kiuds of
oak each had a peculiar shade. Here
and there could he seen the. dark
splotoes made by the cedars. It
was altogether a most beautiful
sight. In the distance we could get
a glimpse of tbe Flint while further
out the eye i aught sight of great
columns of smoke rising from West
Bainbridge. If you know of some
one who s thinking of locating in
this place take him to this outlook
and his mind will be instantly made
np.
