was here Sunday visiting home.
We are glad to see Miss Flora
Boyce out again after a few days
sickness.
Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Guilford went
over to Bainbridge on business one
day last week.
Mr. It. Getzlaff, general manager
of A. Cohn’s tobacco plantation, was
in town Saturday.
Climax has a long distance tele
phone now. We can communioate
with the outside world.
Messrs. Pearoe Hinson and Will
Thomas, of Attapulgus, were pleas
ant viators here Sunday.
Misses Ingram’s, of Bainbridge,
spout Saturday in our little town the
guest of Miss Flora Boyce,
Mr. D. D. Blue and family left for
Floral City, Fla., Monday, where
they will make their future home.
Miss Annie Curry spent Saturday
and Sunday last with her parents
here. Miss Anuie has a flourishing
school at Fowltowu,
Mi'S Luoie English, the charming
daughter of Mr. D. B. English, will
leave for Savannah soon. Wo are
sorry to see her go.
Miss Georgia Donalson and mother
passed through here Monday return
ing homo after spending sevoral days
at the Chautauqua.
Ur. S. T. Carter has returned
from a two weeks’ hunt up and
around Open Pond. We wonder
what Dock is hunting for ?
Quite a number of our young folks
spent last Monday at Harrell’s mill
fishing and picnicing. They all say
they had a lot of fun and fish.
Mrs. A. J. Trulock is real sick at
her home on Curry Street. Her
mother,.Mrs. Averitt, of Fowhown,
was oalled to her bedside laat Tues
day.
Col. W. B. Cox spent last Satur
day in Whigham attending to busi>
ness matters. The Colonel wants to
have a horse swapping convention
held in Climax.
Mr. Stimpson filled his regular
appointment Sunday, Quite a large
crowd attended services. He i) a
hard worker and a good preacher.
It would be better for Climax if
there were more just suoh men.
We wish the merchants of Bain
bridge would assist us in getting up
a petition for the A, C. L. K. R, to
allow passengers to ride on the local
freight between Whigham ond Bain
bridge as we need a morning train.
It is reported that Mr. Thomas A.
Evans will leave soon for Atlanta,
where he will take a position as
traveling salesman for the Oklaho
ma Vinegar Co. Wo wish Tom suc
cess and think that we can aooount
for his going away.
Allen Bros, new brick store is
nearing completion—then look out.
Climax will make it lively tor these
other towns. The Manse is also
nearly completed. In a few more
days we oan boast of another resi
dence and a briok store.
Miss Lueio Cobb English enter
tained a number of her friends last
Tuesday evening with a musical in
honor of her friend Miss Hernug.
Delightful refreshments were served
at 11 o’clock and each couple re-
paire" to their homes thinking that
they were most foitunate to be Miss
Lucie’s guest as she always proves to
be' a charming hostess.

business trip to Columbus, Ga.

The oat crop in this section is
considered almost a total failure on
account of the prolonged drougtb.
Miss Fannie Franklin, of the
Bethel neighborhood, was a visitor

Quite a few couples from here at
tended the Sunday school conven
tion at Log Union church m Miller
county last Sunday.
Mr. Cleveland Bridges, who has
recently concluded a course in medi
cine at Louisville. Ky., is visiting bis
brother, Ur. It. L. Z. Bridges.
Mr. S. W. Freeman and two
daughters, Misses Ona and Olga, of
Donalsouville, were the guests of
Mr. J. H. Brinson and family Sun
day,
Mr. Thomas Wilson, one of the
clever proprietors of the Ash Shiu-
gle Company, had three fingers cut
off in a shingle machine a few days
ago. The accident is greatly re
gretted by his friends
Mr. D. C. Rogers and family who
have been residents here for several
years, during which time they have
formed many friendships, left this
week for Pottsville, N. Y., where
they will make their home for the
present. The best wishes of this
community are theirs.
Miss Sailie Jones left Monday for
her home in Blakely after a pleasant
visit to the family of Dr. H. H.
Brinson. Miss

Rev, W. F. Cato will preach at
Bethany church next Sunday.

day quite a small congregation.
The young people are glad to note
that there will be a delightful pio-
niu given at the Iron bridge the 30th
of May. Everybody is cordially in
vited to attend and bring with them
a well filled basket.
Miss Florenoe Ivey a charming
young lady of this plaoe made a
pleasant trip to Bainbridge a few
