Shooting Scrape.
Last Monday evening John
Duggan, a brick mason, and Char
ley High had an altercation on
the streets thaj came near results
ing in the death of High, Hot
words ensued on their meeting and
Duggar drew his pistol, threw it
into High’s face and fired.
The ball struck him squarely in
the center of the neck in front
and ranged round under the skin
and came out at the shoulder. Had
it not turned it would have un-
doubtedly killed him.
At rhe commitment trial Tues
day Duggar was bound over to the
superior court under cnarge of
assault with intent to murder. As
he could not give bond he is now
in jail awaiting trial at May term of
the court. High is out and is ap
parently not much the worse for
that he had such a close call.
