uggins, W. R. Barous, W. A. Shaw, S.
- McCutchen, VV. L. Boluen, J. G.
Griffin, J. N.^J3urdges, Alexander Bur-
doe and E. J. Birdsong, all of said state
espeotfully showeth:

selves, their associates and successors to
become incorporated under the name
and style of the "Independent Order of
the Peoples’ Aidiug Society.” >,
Seoond. That the term for which the
petitioners ask to be incorporated is
twenty years, with the privilege of rp
newnl at the end of that time.
Third. The sole object aud purpose ot
the proposed association is to promote
the cause of Christian religion, and to
aid fallen humanity: and petitioners to
this end ask the right aid privilege ol
establishing churches and such other in
'titutions as will further the objects oi
said association, that for the purpose oi
raising; funds for the erection of such in
stitutions as will further the cause and
pi.iposes of this association, and also foi
t he purpose of caring for the poor and
destirhte members of said association
and for all persons who are objects of
charity, they desire to be incorparated

of humanity and the protection of its
members and qll who are destitute, and
to these ends petitioners ask the privi
lege of erecting churches, schools and
orders not in conflict with the laws
of this State and of the Unned States

to establish subordinate lodges any where
in thi* State, or in any state in the
United States; said subordinate lodges
to be governed and controlled by
Grand lodge established here.
Eighth. To buy own and sell proper
ty, to lease and rent property, to borrow
ofloan money, to sue and be sued, and
to do any and all other acts that will
promote the objects of said corporation.
Ninth. To have and use a common
seal, and to act and be known alone by
said seal.
Wherefore petitioners pray they be
made a body corporate, under the name
and style aforesaid, entitled to the priv
ileges and immunities and subject to tne
liabilities fixed bv law.
