The Quarterly Conference was
held at the Methodist eburoh Mon
day at 10 o’olook. The Presiding
Elder, Dr. Cook, gave a beautiful
talk to a large and interested con
gregation.
The merry-go-round justly merits
its name, When school is out of

ride or go round—and its quite a
merry place—with the music, and
chatter and laughter of the go roun
ders.

speaks in high terms for old Decatur.
Through close attention of Dr.
McCord and her lender nurses little
Lenora Parker is thought to be some
better today. Many prayers were
offered to God, a higher physician,
for the little girl’s life, if He saw
best. We still trust she . may be
spared to comfort her parents and
loved ones.
The Japanese lecture at the Bap
tist church Monday eve at 7:30
p. m. by Rev. Teigo Fusbsbida was
heartily enjoyed by all present. He
told of the customs and ornaments
of wear and exhibited in small form
the God they woishiped in Japan,
also hair pins, slippers and sooks
which were very curious to Amen-
oans. He made it intei eating, espe
cially for old maids.
Wonder who tha professor was
who got lost in Horse creek swamp,
near Sofkee, a few nights ago? And
when found was firing his pistol to
denote help wanted? His thoughts
were so loud about bis girl that we
could read them easily. But we
wish to inform his many friends that
his neighbors put him in the right
path and oanied him home and left
him to dream of his wandering stroll
and the girl be bad left behind him.
To Hold Picnic.
Following up a suggestion made
through these columns sometime
ago, the several Sunday Schools
of this city have determined to
hold their union picnic at Lake
Jackson, Friday 22nd of May and
everything is being put in readi
ness for the bccasion which will no
doubt be a great treat to the pupils
of the schools. The Presbyterian
school was the first to act, but the
suggestion seems to have struck a
responsive chord wi.h all the
schools.
General passenger Agent Cole
man has arranged a very low ex
cursion rate for the trip. He or
Mr. McTyre will hive charge of
the excursion and will personally
see that the party has the best
service possible. As before staged
Lake Jackson is a pretty location
for an outing of this kind and we
predict that the schools will be
highly pleased with their selection.
We believe that the bringing
together of the schools of the city
will be well for all and that the
children will enjoy the day more
than they possible could do if
taken separately.
The attendance upon the picnic
will be large and the G, F. & A,
people are expecting to have every,
thing in readiness for the approach
ing day.

ure.

ren and Willie MoCulley, who are

Bad Neighbors!
Insects probably have their place
in creation, but they make poor
neighbors. They are apt to like
you better than you like them, and
will show a disposition to stay
where they are not wanted.
See that they move this spring
at housecleaning time. We have
all the reliable insect destroyers.
Ants, roaches, moths and bugs
