Children’s Day.
That was a magnificent audience
that crowded the large edifice of
the Methodist church Sunday
night, drawn hither by the an*
nouncement that it would be the
occasion far the observance of
Children’s Day. All available
space was occupied and each felt
amply repaid in taking advantage
of this opportunity. The children
of the Sunday School acquitted
themselves in a highly pleasing
manner, reflecting credit not only
upon themselves, but upon those
who were in charge and who la
bored so earnestly and assiduously
in their endeavors to present a
programme that would prove in
teresting and profitable to all who
should attend.
That it was the best Children’s
Day programme ever presented in
Bainbridge was the concensus of
opinion of all who were present.
The little children of the infant
class received the larger share of
the commendatory remarks, and
so well pleased was the audience
at the excellent rendition by these
little ones that by special request
the same was reproduced.
The singing was exceptionally
good. The young ladies consti
tuting the Sunday School and
League choir measured up to their
usual standard of excellence and
proficiency. The Sunday School
and League is to be congratulated
upon having such an excellent ar
ray of young lady artists, who al
ways enter heart and soul into this
important feature of church work.
We would be committing a breach
of injustice should we fail to make
mention of the fact that the reci
tations by the young ladies were
excellent and elicited the favorable
comment of all present. The duet
by Misses Goff and Harrell was of
a high standard of excellence.
The entire programme as ren
dered was highly satisfactory and
Supt. Hawes and his co-laborers
Mrs. Matthews, Mrs. Hamilton
and Miss Goff, are due the thanks
of the people for the success of
the evening, and for their labors
in this behalf expended.
A Worthy Change.
The time was when jurors in
the service of the county, were
not given the attention to which
they mere entitled, but which we
arc glad to note has come to
them at last. It was once the
custom that juries who were kept
together over night because ol un
finished criminals 'trials, were
forced to put up with poor accom-
modations, but they are now com
fortably quartered in one of the
hotels of the city. This much is
certainly due citizens of the coun
ty who are called from their busi
ness no matter how urgent.
The Search Light heartily en
dorses the action of the authorities
in this matter, and we believe that
the jurors themselves will add an
ominous amen,
