Miss Pearl Carrol has returned
from a pleasant trip to Jacksonville,
Fla.
Postmaster John R. Bush, of Col
quitt, was in the oity the first of the

Children’s day was observed at
the night service at the Methodist
cbuich and a most impressive and
entertaining program was rendered.
The two hotels of the city were
chock-a-block with drummers Satur
day aud Sunday. Bainbridcre is i
favored spot so tar as the patronage
of the knights of the grip goes.
A party of our citizens are plan
ning a trip to Spring Greek next
week where they will for a few days

for which that stream is famous
Mr. C. C. Harrell and family left
last week for Panacea Springs
where they have been enjoving the
health giving properties of the wa-
ters of that famous resort.
The new Bruton store when com
pleted will be one of the handsomest
buildings iu the town. Contractor
Burney is pushing the work as rap
idly as practicable. The store will
bo large, airy and attractive.
The 31aum Jewelry Co. have just
received and placed on display one
of the handsomest lines of silverware
we have ever- seen in Bainbridge.
This enterprising firm is forging to
the front and building up a large
trade.
Mr. Beeman has bought out the
interest of Mr. Ingram in the Oak
City Tailoring Co„ and will continue
the business in the same style of
firm. Mr. Ingram will be found
hereafter with the Bainbridge Tail
oring Co.
There has been a slight obange in
the arrival time of noon passenger
trains on the A. C. L The change
was effective Sunday, and by it the
west bound train reaohes Bainbridge
at 12:15, while the east bound ar
rives at 1 p. m.
Mr. Mose Warren left • Sunday for
Jakin, Ga., where he will remain
through the summer, reading law.
It is probable that he will enter the
University of Georgia this fall, Mose
has many friends In Bainbridge who
hope to see him aohieve sucoess.
Hon. Chas. L. Davis, representa
tive from Memwetber county in the
general assembly, was in Bainbridge
last Friday shopping at the Wain-
mah. Mr. Davis is also proprietor
of the celebrated Warm Springs
summer resort, an advertisement of
whioh will bo found elsewhere in
these oolomns. Mr. Davis is anxious
to have our people test the efficacy
We have been authorized to an
nounce, uooordmg to law, that a bill
will be mtrodnoed at the coming
June session of the legislature, the
effect of whioh will be to ohango the
present mode of appointing the
judges and solioitors of the oity
court of Bainbridge, and making
these officers elective by the people.
The reoent grand jury, as will be
seen by reference to the recommen
dations published exclusively in our
last issue, urged that a bill of this
nature be passed at the June ses
sion. The publication of this local
notioe makes the introduction of the
bill possible.
Another of the large barges being
constructed at the ship yards u
West Bainbridge was launohed Sat
nrday eyening. There waa an un
expected delay in the launching, as
from some cause the barge did not
strike the water when the underpin
ning waB knocked out. It took
about an hour to move the barge
and many people who had gone
down to witness the lannohing, grew
impatient and returned to the oity.
Do not forget the exercises to be
held at the Opera House June 3rd at
whioh General Clement Evans will
address the confederate survivors
and their ohildren. It is to be hoped
that every veteran of the county will
be present, as a special program has
been arranged and seats will be re
served for toe old soldiers.

There was a wreck of a freight
train on the A. C. L. Monday night
near Cyrene, and the passenger
trains were delayed several hours in
consequence. We understand that
do great damage was don'e, and no
one was hurt- although the traok for
some distance was badly torn up.
