Miss Ethel Mills is in Cairo at
tending the commencement there.
The warm weather is bringing out
the crops considerably in our section.
Henry Clark arrived Sunday
from his several week's stay in the
West.
Miss Kate McElvy and Miss Scott
are attending the Institute m B.ain
bridge.
Rev. John Maxwell and wife are
visiting their son and family here
this week.
Little Miss Alma Quinn visited
little Rosebud English, of Climax,
last Sunday.
Norman Peeble is on a pleas
ure trip in the far West. We with

Mrs. M F Guilford relumed home
Tuesday after a pleasant stay of two
weeks in Bacon ion.
Misses Dixie and Bonnie Truiock
are attending the commencement

We are sorry to hear of Mr. R.
M. Bower’s illness at bis home. We
trust he will soon be out.

were here shopping Monday.

after a visit to her father, Mr. Josh

Miss Ron Arline dosed her
school at Live Oak in tbe north

and was here Monday eo route to
tbe Institute at Bainbridge.
Misses Ruby and Dolly Wbigham
returned to their homo in Recovery,
Ga., last Saturday. Miss Ruby has
been assistant teacher of C. E. Dug-
gar at Spring Hill Academy.
Several went on the Tampa ex
cursion Monday. We noticed Mes-
datnes Harrison and Lang and Miss
Mamie Harrell, Rev. F. C. Massey,
Cato Jones and Green Lodge.

out to the River Tuesday. They
report quite it warm and few fish.
Mr. Stimpson, of the Presbyterian
churoh, preached to a large congre
gation at the Methodist churoh here
last Friday night. It is always a
treat to have Mr. Stimpson to preach
lor us.
Last week Whigham looked de
serted while court was in session at
Bainbridge as most of tbo gentle
men attended. This week the young
ladies are in Bainbridge at tbe In
stitute, and at Cairo commencement,
so it gives Whigham a quiet look.
Last Saturday morning when Sher
iff Fordhain stepped off'tbe early
morning train it w?s a wonder of
the town who or what he was here
for, and many were kept in suspense
until be was seen going towards the
depot in time for the freight to re
turn to Bainbridge, and in place of a
prisoner he had a large basket Of eggs
on his arm. (Alas, how relieved
some must have felt.)

W. E. Atwater iast week.
Rev. Solomon Blount of Gretna,
Fia., delivered a fine sermon at Ev
ergreen ohnreb last Sunday,
Miss Gertrude Atwater a charming
young lady of this place visited rel
atives in Hermitage last Sunday.
C. J. Atwater has found an
attraction of some kind over about
Recovery, and he is spending his
Sunday afternoons over that way.
The citizens ot this community are
going to give a fish fry and picnio
at the Whiddon fish pond on June
6th, everyone being invited to attend,
bringing well filled baskets. There
will be refreshments on the grounds.
Col. and Mrs. Atwater, of this
place, accompanied by Miss White,
of Hermitage, Fla., left here one day
this week on the excursion for Or
lando, Fla., where they will be the
guests fit Mr. and Mrs. F. Langen-
bauh. We wish them a pleasant
visit.
