Cairo Lands on Bainbridge
In a loose game of ball at the
Fair Grounds Monday evening the
Cairo boys made monkeys of the
local team and won over them by
a score of 11 to 3. The batteries
were, for Cairo, Pearce and Me-
Kuhn; for Bainbridge, Finch and
Brown.
The game abounded in errors
on both sides, and it was remarka
ble that the score was held down
so low. The boys seemed to have
had an off day as it were. The
Cairo team returned to their home
Tuesday morning on the early
train covered with victory and
wishing they had more worlds to
conquer, while the Bainbridge
enthusiast returned to his daily
walk a sadder though wiser man.
Bainbridge and Camilla were to
have played three games at this
place Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday evenings, but for some
reason unknown to us the games
were called off.

That Hog Law.
We understand that consterna
tion has been occasioned in some
parts of the county over the report
that the legislature had passed a
law forbidding the running at large
of hogs 011 the lands of others.
The facts of the matter are these :
The house of representatives
passed a measure making it unlaw
ful for one person to allow his
hogs to run beyond the bounds of
his own land, but the law does not
come into effect until it shall have
been voted in, as the stock law
now may be done. The measure
as we learn, did not pass the sen
ate, and will not therefore become
a law before the meeting of the
next legislature; and The Search
Light hopes it will not become
one then. We understand that
our local representatives were un
favorable to the bill.
South Georgia needs no law
that would have the effect of de
creasing the amount of meat rais
ed; on the other hand the hog
industry should be encouraged at
every point possible.
