There is not a water mill left in the county as far we are able to assertain. Mrs. T. Harrison is the guest of her daughter, Mrs Green Lodge, this week. There was no services at the Metho dist church Sunday, owing to the rains. Mr. Billie Williams, from Pine Hill Academy settlement was in town this week Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Courson, of W. H. Herring's still, were in town shopping this week. New- from Whigham is scarce this week, being cut off by high Water and no bridges. Kev. It is remembered he had his arm amputated last week, having had it lacerated in a gin. Mr. Godwin leaves a wife and two children, a mother, several brothers and sisters to moe^A.'bi* death. A certain individual of this city who is of established veracity, as serts that during last Sunday’s storm a very remarkable thing happened to some fruit jars which were lying in the open yard and which he happened to be watch ing at the time Said jars though empty had the tops screwed on tignt. Somehow or other a whiff of breeze came along and took away the tops of the jars, and they hdve not since been seen, while the jars themselves were left standing unharmed -and unmoved.
