Dispensary street last week.
Miss Jessie Bunting, of Thomas-
ville, was the guest of her brother,

The quarterly meeting at Spring
Hill church near here Monday was
largely attended, notwithstanding
the inulemocy of the weather.

ters passed through Whigham eu
route to the Primitive Association
near Donalsonville this week.
W. C. John-on and Joe Lane, two
live naval stores men of this place,
have extended their business and
opened a business at Havana, Fla.
During the mouth of October
Cobb & Lewis bought 75 barrels of
svrup besides the McNair Company,
Woodberry Co., Chapman A Swi-
eords, Johnson & Harrell, Robison
& Co., all have bought their share.
This shows that Whigham is becom
ing a noted syrup market.
The Bell ami Wood marriage on
tbe lltn at Cairo, will be one of the
greatest social events Cairo has bad
this season. Miss Bell is largely
connected with tbe best families of
Decatur county and is a young lady
noted for her many splendid charac
teristics of heart and manner*.
Death Wednesday Night.
Died at the home of her daugh
ter in this city last Wednesday
night, Mrs. Wheeler, mother of
Mrs. A. J. Jones, Master mechan
ic for the G. F. A. shops in West
Bainbridge. The remains were
•hipped to Macon Thursday and
will be buried in that city. She
was attended through her illness
by her three sons. To the be
reaved ones, the sympathies of the
town are extended.

Mr. I. D. Morgan, who was
some time ago appointed receiver
for the Johnson Hardware Co., of
this city, began yesterday under
an order of the court, to dispose
of the stock of goods at public auc
tion. Hon. Ben E. Russell is con
ducting the sale, which will be
continued today beginning at io
o’clock.

Miss Mary Crowder who has been
sick for the past six weeks at her
boarding place in Whigham, left
Wednesday for her home accompa
nied by her mother.

We hear on the 13th of November
the Horse Swappers’ Convention will
meet in Whigham. That will be a
live day for those who would lik e to
swap off their mustangs, Montanas
and old maleB. Remember the con
vention and be on band.
