Bower vs. Harrell.
The Atlanta Constitution of re
cent date has the following to say
of the local race for the Judgeship
of our city court:
“Very general interest is felt
throughout the state over a con
test for the judgeship of the city
court of Bainbridge between Judge
B B. Bower, who has held the
position since the court was es
tablished, and Colonel W. M. Har
rell, who has been a member of
the Bainbridge bar for twenty years
seven of which he served as solici
tor of the c junty court.
They are both well known and
influential Georgians, and the mere
mention of their names is suffi
cient to direct wide attention upon
this local fight. The campaign
will be a spirited one as the friends
and supporters for both candidates
are actively at work in their be
half.”
Bainbridge Needs
More of education, churches and
school houses; more industries In
the way of factories, mills, and
foundries; more investors, develop
ers, and community builders; more
rail roads, steam boats, and more
modern means of travel by public
highways; more institutions of re
putable character for the upbuild
ing of the city. More of paint,
purpose, prosperity and peace. A
greater publicity of our natural ad
vantages and opportunities unsur
passed, of our genial clime, mild
winters and soft summer breezes,
With these might we expect
continually increasing population
and a constantly expanding busi
ness volume. Phenomenal en
hancement of property values, and
such an industrial awakening as
this section has never before ex
perienced.

Our
Moultrie Again Peaceful.
The difficulty between the Ex
press company and the city coun
cil of Moultrie, concerning the de
livery of whisky by the Express
company, has been settled
Recently the council of Moultrie
passed an ordinance to prevent
the delivery of whisKy sent by ex
press to persons in that town. The
Company claimed the right to de
liver any goods shipped to their
office; however, after much wrang
ling, in compliance with the law
they refused to bring t'-ie whisky
in for a few days. In the mean
time the company appealed to
their attorney, Hon. Fleming
duBignon, who decided that the
ordinance was antagonistic to the
statutes regulating common car
riers, and advised them to continue
the delivery of the disputed arti
cle; whereupon the council repeal
ed the ordinance and thus peace
was restored.
