Mrs. Herring and children, from Her
ring's naval stores business near town,
were in Whigham Tuesday.
Mr. Hester Cook left Saturday for
Baker county, where he will spend sev
eral days with relatives.
Miss Mabelle Herring, of Climax, was
the guest of her brother, Dr. Herring,
Saturday and Sunday last.
Mr. and Mrs. Whigham. from Union
Academy settlement, were pleasant vis
itors in Whigham Monday.
Miss Dora Maxwell and cousin, Boy
Maxwell, attended the foot washing at
Trinity Saturday and Sunday.
Mr. Lias Belcher, one of our city
property owners, who lives near Open

young lady of Pelham, is the guest of

of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Maxwell, of Cai

Messrs. Rufe Harrell and Dan John
son spent several days near Iamonia
Lake last week, looking after their
farming interests there.
Little Bessie, the 2-year-old baby of
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bird, died at their
home in Bell district last Friday. We
extend our sympathy to the grieved
family.
Dr. Dorsey is in his office to his many
customers. The doctor has one of the
handsomest equipped offices that most
anv town affords. Whigham feels proud
of this improvement.
Miss Bessie Peeble returned Tuesday
from Moultrie, where she has spent a
most delightful time for several days
with relatives and friends.
Col. R- R- Terrell left Monday for
Atlanta, where he will attend supreme
court in behalf of the tax trying to be
enforced on public property in Whig
ham.
Miss Anuibel and Lila Williams, ot
Mr. J. L. Peeble and sons are having
a phone line put up from Whigham out
to their still some eight mile* north of
town. Tbi* will be very oohyenient for
their business.
Mr. John Hall, one of Cairo’s busi
ness boys was m Whigham Friday and
called in to see us. John never forgets

The giiests of Miss Ernestine Chesnut
are expected this afternoon to attend a
house party at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
J. Byron Butler. The names are its fol
lows: Rosa and Naomi Bennett, of Ca
milla; Ethel Alden and Lahlia Wight, of
Cairo, and Marshall Rcvier, of Cairo.
Married, Sunday morning last at the
home of the bride’s father, Mr. Oscar
Harrell. Rey. Mr. Sellers officiating, Mr.
John Henry Collins and Miss Mamie
Harrell. Quite a number of friends of
the parties were present to witness the
ceremony. Mr. Collins is one of the
progressive farmers of his section. The
bride is highly esteemed for many traits.
That their future pathway may be
strewn with roses, is the wish of every
one who knows them.

Mr. A. M. Earp has been making some
additions to his already pleasant home.
The young people have had several
delightful social gatherings during the
week which were much enjoyed.
The Baptist congregation have begun
painting their new church, and the work
will be carried forward as rapidly as
possible.
Mr. S. J. Warren is to begin the erec
tion of another neat residence at once.
Mr. J. W Langford will be in charge of
the work.
We have been haying some very hot.

Donalsonville are planning a ten days’
trip to Panacea, or some other point on
the gulf, at a near day.
We regret to report the illness of Miss
Minnie Eagerton at the home of her
parents, near this plane. Miss Eagerton
has recently returned from the Normal

Mr. (hear Hardin, who has been at
tending college the past term at Young-
Harris college, is at home for the sum
mer vacation. He has been putting in
some hard work and has made a good
record.
A party from this place consisting of
about fifteen young people, chaperoned
by Mrs. John Warren, left Tuesday for
Apalachicola, Fla., on a pleasure trip of
a few days. For several years a party
lias gone down on the Queen City, this
being their favorite boat.
At a meeting of the members of tbe
church held Sunday evening last, final
arrangements were made for the enter
tainment of the gueets of the coming
diatuct conference, which convenes at
this place Tuesday next aud rang
through Sunday following. It is ex
pected that a large attendance wiU- be

where they will spend several weeks.
Mr. George O. Smith, of Hartford
Ala. spent Tuesday in the oity en
route to Lanark where be goes for

Mrs. B. C. Dickenson returned
Monday from an extended visit to
Biloxi, Miss. She is much improved
iu health.
