Mr. J. 0. Weldon and sister, Miss
Lemma, returned home from Boston,
where they spent the past week at their
old home.
Dr. Peacock, of Bainbridge, was called
to Whigham last Saturday in consulta
tion with Dr. McElvy over the condi
tion of Mr. Lonnie Hudson.
The Wite Grass and Whigham base
ball teams crossed bats on Whigham
diamond picnic day. The score was 10
to 25 in favor of Whigham.
Dr. Watkins, of ThoiuasviUe, spent a
few days with his danghters in Whig
ham, Mrs. W. C. Bell and Mrs, Simon
Swicord, during the week.
Mrs. Bell Wilder, of Havana, Fla., is
at her sister. Mrs. J. Y. Jones, in Whig
ham. Mrs. Wilder came to be treated
for eczema by Dr. M. M. McCord.

spent Monday last in the country with
her sister, Mrs. Ida Swartz.
“Mrs. John Mills and children and Mas
ter Edwin Lewis arrived in the city
Tuesday from Jacksonville. Fla., and
are the guests of Mrs. J. E. Cobb.
The many friends of Dr. W. A. Walk
er will he pleased to learn of his im
provement. He is in Atlanta and will
return to Cairo the later part of this
week.
Several Cairoites attended the Ma
sonic rally. We noticed Rev. Byron
Wight, Murray Maxwell, Will Merritt
Hugh Cannon, Willie Jay Powell and
others.
There was a young man called at the
home of our mayor, Mr. T. J Mills,
Monday night and will be likely to re
main with them, his parents, for a num
ber of years.
Little Norrin Parker, while playing
Monday, fell and stuck a nail entirely
through the palm of her hand. n* is
an unusual wound, however we trust it
will not give the little lady much pern.
Messrs. Elmer and Norman Peebles,
Reeves and Roy Autrey. Misses Anui-
belle Williams, Ada Trulock. Vila Wil

Mr. J. H. Powell and wife, of Camilla,
paid Whigham and their son, A. 8.
Powell, a visit Thursday, also took in
the Masonic rally Friday. Mr. Powell
is the efficient County School Commis
sioner of Mitchell county.
Mr. Guyte P. McCord, student iu
sophomore class and captain of Florida
State College baseball team, yisitted his
brother, Dr. McCord, last week. We
learn that Mr. McCord received one of
the college medalB this year, which he
no doubt merited and is proud to own.
Mars Hill was well represented at the
Masonic picnic Friday by Mr. and Mrs.
Ben Harrell, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bell, Mr.
and Mrs. W. R. Harrell. Mrs. J. D. Har
rell. Mr. and Mrs. Gas Parker, Mr. and
Mrs. Charlie Mobley, Mr. Alouza Har
rell and James Dees, and not only these
: gentlemen are good Masons—but their
| better halves take part in riding the
! goat.
Died at his home Sunday near here
| with typhoid fever, Mr. Lonnie Hudson,
j He leaves a wife and live little children,
| father and mother and several brothers
; and sisters to mourn the loss of this
good man. The remains were interred
at Trinity cemetery Monday afternoon.
We extend cur heartfelt sympathy to
the bereaved family.
The Masonic picnic was all that one
could expect. A sublime talk by Judge
Anderson Roddenberry and an intro
ductory by Uncle John Robinson, and
the dinner prepared by the tender hands
and helpmates of the grand institution
was all that one could want. Besides
the lemonade by the gallons and gallons.
After dinner they gathered by the sound
of the trumpet at the large and beauti
ful hall and there several ladies were
given degrees and all went home happy.

Mrs. J. B. Palmer, of Camilla, Ga.,
left Sunday for Tbouiaeville, after an
extended visit to her brother Mr. B. W.

Miss Mattie Lee Averitt, of Fowltown
who has been visiting Miss Alice Trn-
lock for the past week has returned
home.

thrown from his horse Wednesday last.

evening last week in honor of Miss Mat-
tie Lee Averitt.

Masonic banquet at Whigham Friday
last.
Misses Clyde Curry and Mand Pow
ell left Monday for Cairo to attend the
Moonlight picnic to he given by the
Knighta ot Pythias—and will spend sev-
eral weeks with friends.
