Commencement Address
A few extracts from the com
mencement address of Rev. W.
H. Higgins, of Thomasville, be
fore the graduating class of' the
Bainbridge High School at the
court house on Monday night of
last week:
‘ ‘There are no interests in so
ciety so valuable that the world
is not willing to commit th§m to
their hands when it is satisfied
that they are qualified to defend
them, and to transmit them to
future times. All of the blood,
bought blessings of freedom, all
of the endowments of college
and school, all of the offices in
State, all of the interests of re
ligion and benevolence, all of the
sacred trust of the home the
world is willing to entrust to the
young as soon as it has evidence
that these trusts will be safe in
their keeping. Then those who
have defended these things will
retire, will lie calmly down and
die, feeling sure that the trusts
are in responsible hands.”
‘‘Judges and Senators are will
ing to vacate their seats; con-
querers, whom no foe could sub
due are willing to resign their
swords: the ministers of religion,
to whom the cause of truth is
dearer than life, are willing to
vacate their places, when these
young people shall show them
selves worthy of confidence be
fore these great interests are
confided in their keeping. The
world asks such a reputation of
those who advance to receive
these honors, as will show that
the trust will not be endangered
before it is yielded to them.”
‘‘In this land everything is
possible to him or to her whose
achievements merit it. No ad
vantage of birth or blood; no
hereditary rank or name; no
merit of ancestorage, limits the
bestowment, or confers any fa
cilities for reaching the coveted
goal. It depends upon the abili
ty, the ambition, and the per
severance of those who strive.”
‘‘One of the evils of society
today is harsh criticism, the talk
ing about your neighbors. Let
me beseech you to avoid it. It
disintegrates and pulls down
character instead of building it
up. It is disastrous in its results
and Satanic in its effects. And
you are responsible for the fair
fame of those around you.”

Wilson-Fain.
On Tuesday morning. June the
fourth, 1912, at nine o’clock, the
wedding of Miss Clyde Louise
Wilson took place at the Presby.
tenan church at Faceville, Ga.
As the bells were pealing out the
hour of nine, Mrs. J. D. Chason,
Jr., with her sweet voice ren
dered most beautifully the solo:
‘‘Love me, and the world ii
mine.”
When the sweet strains of
mendelshons wedding march
began, the bridal party entered
the church from the front. First
came the two ushers, Mr. Grec
ian Rawls and Mr. Lifford Gray,
and closely behind them followed
the two beautiful flower girls,
Virian Fain and Mary Young,
with baskets filled with lovely,
white and pink roses, mingled
with ferns. From the left en
tered the bride on the arm pf
her maid of honor, Miss Annie
Mae Duval, of Tallahassee, Fla.
and from the right the groom on
the arm of his brother, Mr. Don-
alson Fain. They marched on
slowly to the Arch in front of
the Altar, when the bride and
groom met and the cere
mony was performed by Rev. N,
P. Quarterman, of Quincy, Fla.
Immediately after the cere
mony, the bridal party went in
automobiles to Bainbridge, where
the bride and groom amid show
ers of rice, left for St. Augus
tine, Savannah, and other points.
On their return they will be at
their Leaatiful home in Faceville.
Ga.
The bride was gowned in a
lovely white silk marquisette,
draped over white messaline
elaborately trimmed in princess
lace with pearl trimmings and
carried bride roses. Her maid
of honor was gowned in white
messaline with princess lace
fichu and beaded trimmings and
carried pink roses.
The church was beautifully
decorated with pink and white
roses, pot plants, and lovely
vines.
Miss Wilson is a most charm-
young lady possessed with many
fine qualities which we are una
ble to express with words,
Mr. Fain is a prominent busi
ness man of Faceville, Ga., also
a man possessed with sterling
qualities.
We extend our congratulations
to them and wish for them a
very bright, happy and prosper
ous future.
Dr. J. D. Chason has returned
from Atlantic City, where he
attended a meeting of the Ameri

Doctor reports a splendid trip
