BAINBRIDGE, GA., JULY 5, 1912.
STEADY GROWTH
OF BAINBRIDGE.
It would hardly be right to say
Bainbridge is on a boom. That
is not the best term to apply to
the present forward movement.
It is best to say Bainbridge
has begun her growth to great
ness. Nothing is ^plainer now
than this—that the beautiful
“Oak City” has put on new life
and growth into prominence and
power, commercially and other
wise, not exceeded by tiny - other
place in southern Georgia.
The spirit of real progress and
enterprise has taken a firm hold
upon the entire town almost to a
man You can hear it talked on
every side. You can almost feel
it in the air. The man who
would be brazen enough now to
speak disparingly of the future
of Bainbridge would come mighty
near l>eing classed as an unde
sirable citizen”.
Even the women and children
are talking of the new life that
is evident on all sides. You'can
hear them say something like
this: “I am so glad that Bain
bridge has really begun to do
things r.r.d I hope it will never
stop till every sidewalk is paved,
every home that needs it, receives
a new coat of paint, the work of
cleaning up the cemetery con
tinued until it is clear of rubbish
and trash and every lot and home
surroundings in the place is
cleaned and beautified.
There is not power enough un
der the sun to keep down such a
spirit of forward movement and
real progress. And since the
work has begun, it will no doubt
be carried on until Bainbridge
comes into her own and is truly
styled the “Pretty Queen of
Southern Georgia” and the Gate
way into west Florida and the
Gulf of Mexico.
For Representative.
The friends of Mr.W.T.Nichol-
son of Climax announce his name
as a candidate to represent De
catur county in the next Legis
lature of Georgia, subject to the
white Democratic primary to be
held some time in August.
They do this believing that if
leg slature if the people will care
fully select their representatives,
and if I am chosen by the people
to act in this capaVty it will give

county could elect.
An earnest consideration of his
candidacy is respectfully asked
of every voter in the eounty.
For Representative.
I hereby announce myself
the city of Bainbridge. I make
this statement inasmuch as I
deem it fair to state in the be
ginning that I favor a division of
our county in the manner pro
vided in the bill introduced in the
last legislature. I own property
in both the eastern and western
portions of the county, and as
stated, I expect to make the

Aspiring to re-election to the
office or Solicitor General of the
Albany Circuit, subject to the

candidacy for that office, which
by the grace of the people 1 have
heretofore held without opposi

voters of this circuit, to whom my
candidacy for re-election is to be
submitted in the primary, will
regard my experience as pros
ecuting attorney as being of some
value to the public interests and
my record as such officer as
meriting my re-election.
My attendance on the courts of
this circuit and the proper dis
charge of the exacting duties of
my office will preclude the possi
bility of my making a thorough
personal,canvass of the circuit,
but 1 am sure that thes° condi
tions will be understood and
appreciated.
1 resjiectfully solicit, and shall
be sincerely grateful fora favor
