Looks Like Superstition.
Editor Search Light;
From time to time in the last
quarter of a century, and from
different sections of the United
States I have received the fol
lowing:
“OyR PRAYER”
“Oh! Lord Jesus I implore
Thee to bless all mankind and
keep us from all evil and bring
us to li ve with Thee.
“This prayer was sent to me
and is to be sent all over the
world. Copy it and see what
happens. It was said in Jesus
time all who wrote it would be
retained from misfortunes and
those who passed it by would
meet with some calamity. Those
who copy it within ten days and
send to ten people would on the
tenth day receive a great joy.
Do not break the chain,. sign no
name, just date received.”
Now, Mr. Editor, any person
with this prayer in their heart
will undoubtedly receive much
happiness, but if we are to send
out a pattern prayer to others,
why not send out the Lord’s
Prayer, there is nothing else in
the world to equal that, and it is
the prayer He told us to pray.
But with all respect for My
Saviour, I wish to say, tnat I
believe we can find work to do
"In His Name” which will be
more pleasure in His sight Gian
to send out ten copies of this
prayer every time we receive
one. Just btcause we are . uper-
stitious enough to be alraid of
some threatened calamity, i f we
don’t obey orders and the caain
is broken.
This savors too much of Witch
craft, Ignorance and Superstition,
to appeal to me.
