cotton.
The State 1 Agricultural Society
will hold its next session at Haw

The uniform text hook hill has
pass 'd tho senate and will become
of force on the first of 1905.
The Georgia legislature has aps

at the St. Louis exposition.
The grand-jury of Hall Superior

Kahun county comes to the front
again with another murder. This
time a man hills his wife. Here
is more work for the pardoning
board.
Mis. A. \V. V an I loose of
Gainesville, was poisoned one day
last week by eating canned sal-
mond and drinking sweet milk,
who died a few days afterwards.
Representative C. (’. Houston
was cracked on the head with a
Cain by attorney J. .1. Spalding in
Atlanta last Saturday. The
trouble grew out of the lobby in

The lobby investigation has
caused pretty warm times in the
legislature. Representative Mills
teslilied that he had been ottered
S.Mio to vote against the child labor
hill. And Felder and Oyerstreet
tried to fit-lit.

The Atlanta News was a year
old on the Mh inst. Its progress
has been greater than any paper
over started in the state. It is up
tc date in every respect, and if you
wish to find tho latest news this
great daily contains it.
Last week on a special train, II.
I’. Low wont from New York to
Los Angulos, a distance of 8,200
miles in three days, the fastest
time on record. He was trying to
reach the bedside of his I I year-
old child before it died, but failed.
•John Kerry was not hanged at
Dalton last Friday. Gov. Terrell
commuted his sentence to life im
prisonment to the displeasure of a
big majority of the citizens of
Whitfield county. When such
criminals as Perry are allowed to
escape the gallows the law of capi
tal punishment had just as well be
abolished.
Editor Nugget:
Allow me space in your valuable
paper to write u few words about
Canada.
On Friday, July 81, we had
speaking, box dinner and me
morial services and preaching at
Mt. Lebanon church. First was:
speech by Prof. W. 1\ Lunsford,
followed by George Ingram. The
subject was: “There’s nothing
great in the world but man.
There is nothing great in man but
mind.” Owing to illness, Mr.
Lunsford’s speech was somewhat
shortened, but it was very inter
esting and pointed. Ingram spoke
longer and tho audience was very
attentive. The box dinner was
prepared for the purpose of rais
ing funds to be used for fencing
the grayc yard. When the sale
opened there was some very lively
bidding, tho boxes bringing from
seventy-live cents to three dollars.
There was about forty boxes sold.
Tho sale in all, amounted to about
thirty six dollars. After tho sale
a recess of two hours was given
for dinner. After dinner some
interesting pieces were read in
memory of Charlie Nelson and
Willie Davis, They were written
by their school mates and were
very touching.
Wo hope to read the interesting
memorial composition, written by ,
Miss May Abercrombie, age thir- i
teen, and Miss Alice Nelson, age
fourteen, through the columns of
tho Nugget. Also Mr. G. W. IV.
Abercrotnbio wrote a yory inter
esting piece iu memory of his wifo'
After this two nice cups of (lowers
were prepared and carried in front
by Rev. Jonathan (5i 1 routh and wo
all marched around the grayc yard
where our many friends and rels
ativos are buried. Then Rev. .1.
J. Shed preached a very interest
ing memorial sermon.
Wo had good order and everys
body seemed to enjoy the day.

In a letter written hist week
from Montreal to the pastor of his
church in East Boston, Rev. 8.
Allen, treasurer of the preachers’
Aid Society of the New England
conference of the Methodist Epis
copal church, confessed that he
was a defaulter to tho amount of
more than $80,000 of the society’s
funds. This is a sufficient amount
for him to he given an easy job in
the penitentiary. It’s not like a
negro stealing a chicken.
The depot at Ducktown, Tenn.,
was burned the other night, caus
ed by lightning.
Tho grand jury of Dawson re
turned about thirty true lulls last
week.
On Friday during Lumpkin
camp meeting, will be “Old Sol
dier’s Day.” Services will begin
tit 8 o’clock. Presiding Elder Led
better will preach to the veterans
at 11 o’clock.
An exchange says: For the life
of us we can't see how.a man can
plow a horse all the week on half
rations and then hitch the pack of
bones up and drive five or six
miles to meeting on Sunday, and
when he gets thero sing: “Jesus,
lover of iny sou!, Let me to Thy
bosom Hy."’ We had as well stop
singing, for the Lord is not going
to furnish any such men with a
pair of ivings.
Harrie and Fred Cantrell, chil
dren of Ella Cantrell, colored,
wore drowned in Freeman creek,
White county one day last week.

I consider Wino of Cardui superior
to any doctor's medicine I ever used
and l know ivhoreof 1 speak. I suf
fered for nine months with suppressed
menstruation which c< apletoly pros-
trut'd me. PaiuH would shoot through
my back and sides and 1 would have
blinding headaches. My limbs would
swell up and J would feci so weak 1
could not stand up. I naturally felt
discouraged for 1 seemed to be beyond
the help of physicians, but Wine of
Cardui came as a God-send to mo. I
felt a change for tho better within a
week. After nineteen days treatment
I menstruated without suffering the
n'vonios X usually did and soon became
regular and without pain. Wino of
Cardui is simply wonderful and 1 wish
that ail suffering women knew of its
good qualities.
