‘ in their eagerness to onug all offenders to trial,
the Grand Junes find True bids, the parties are (tied
and acquitted, and the expense lulls upon the county.
We think that true Bills should never be found on
frivolous grounds, or without reliable testimony.—
Bv the observance of these rules some of the expeus

but, wccanuat see Uow the evil can be cured by the

Co sustain the public Academy.
Wc apprehend chat the true cause is that the
Tr® stees have nut put themselves tu the trouble oi
securing the services of such persons in the Auade
my as could command the confidence of its patrons,
it is well reinemoored. that teachers hare ut vari
ous times, been in charge of the Academy who were
favored with the most liberal patronage, and gave
entire satisfaction. Among tiiv.-e, we might instance
Messrs. Ingraham and nuncock, and we think there
is nothing huzzarded, when we express the opinion
that whenever the Trustees shall install persons us
like character and qualifications there will be nu com
plaint of the want us patronage.
We are therefore cvi»trained tu say, that we think
the Trustees have not exercised due’diligence in ti e
management of the impartial trust confided to their
care. They, or inosA of them, are known to be corn
petent—but, the question arises -have they been dil
igent?—have they interesieil them selves personal I v
tu securing teachers, aud promoting the
the success of the school ?
With the large fund admitted to be in their hands
land which ought tu be coasUntly growing, i a<lded
to the patronage of the school, there can lie no doubt
that ample cvuipensation cat only prevail on the
Trustees to rouse themselves up, and put it properly
so work. The T ustees are know nto be active thor
ough going businessmen, eminently successful in di
recting their affairs. W® believe, if they will give
but a moiety of their attention and personal influence
to the great cause of education, which has been con
fided to their management, there will be no further
reason to complain, the murmuring* of the people
will cease, and Graud Juries will be relieved from
the unpleasant duty of Renewing these I’reseutments
year after year.
In closing our duties for the present, we embrace
the opportunity of tendering to His Honor Judge La
mai, our wannest acknowledgements fur his prompt
ness, ability and celerity in the despatch of business,
and his courtesy to us.’ May succcs and happiness
attend him.
The solicitor General, Mr. Montfort, is entitled to
our thanks for his diligence iu the discharge of bis
official duties. We present him as a model officer,
whose example is worthy to be followed by all who
mav be called tn fill t »at responsible station.
