Special contracts may be made with the superintendent of transportation for the freight of the following articles,
when in large quantities, without regard to the established rates, viz: Corn, and all kinds of grain ; brick, horses, mules
and cattle ; iron in bars or pigs, machinery, mill gearing, Ac.; sawed lumber mill stones, grindstones, marble or other ar-
tides of stone; salt, firewood, staves, shingles,hay in bundles, barrels tar, pitch or turpentine.
Freight at the above rates, or by special contract, to be under the following stipulations, viz:
No eft ira for damages on articles transported by this Company unless the^packages are examined and identified in
the presence of an officer of the Company before the same are removed from the Depot. Not accountable for the leakage
of liquora, oil or molasses, breakage of glass or crockery ware, ebafingof bagging, carriages, chairs or furniture. Not ac
countable for breakage of hollow ware. No ioternal injury, not clearly perceptible on the outside of the package, will be
allowed for, unless established to have occurred on board the car. Not accountable for the decay of perishable
Not accountable for livestock; and no liability for goods evidently shipped in bad order, or for cooperage uf casks or pack
ages.
Cotton received in good order at the depots, and afterwards torn while in possession of the Company, will be mended
at their expense. All other damage done to Cotton in trantitu will be promptly settled at Savannah. It is understood
that this Company will not hold themselves accountable for pillage, or damage by the weather, or otherwise, on any
freight after being landed at the place of destination.
The Company will uot be accountable for Passengers’baggage, unless put in the baggage car incharge of the con
ductor.
The Companv will have agents at stations 8, !0/*U, 12,13,14,15, 16, and 17, and at Macon, to attend to the delivery
and forwarding of goods. All merchandize not to be forwarded will he retained at the respective depots at the head of
the road one week, free of expense, after which storage will be charged at the Savannah rates.
Good* destined for points beyoad Macon, will be forwarded by wagons by the Company’s agent, free of commissions.

vilege of running an EXPRESS over tlieir Road during
the present year, with the privilege of an apartment under
their own Lock, they offer superior advantages for the
prompt and safe conveyance of valuable Articles, Specie,
&c. Ac. and are in hopes of being able to make an arrange
ment with the Post Office Department, I y which they will
be allowed to carry a Mail Bag.
They are prepared to receive and forward Goods of all
descriptions, to and from Savannah and Macon, and interme
diate places and between Savannah and Charleston, with
the greatest safety and despatch ; end will also pay particu
lar attention to the putcltase of Goods, collection and pay
ments of Drafts, Notes and'Biils. an.ltiansaclingall kinds of
business in the above places.
They have also extended their arrangement to run their
Express hy the Southern Boats to Picolala, in Florida, and
intermediate places on that route.
They intend to put on Teams, to run regularly through
from Macon to Columbus, under their own charge, to carry
all kinds of Merchandize, with all reasonable despatch and
safety, on the first of October next.

Cotton, Merchandize, or Produce, of any description, will he received by the Company's Agents, at Griffin, Barnesville
or Forsyth, and forwarded directlo Savannah, free of any charge, other than the regular rates of Transportation. Ar*
rangements must be made in all instances, for the payment of Freight and expenses, with the Company’s Agent at Ma
con, or at the Depot where the goods at e received or delivered.
The attention of Merchants aud Planters, is solicited to the advantages olTcrcd them under the above arrangements, for
shipping their Produce to Market, aud obtaining their supplies, through this chaunelof communication with the seaboard.
The Centra) Rail-Road is now completed and in operation, frotn Savannah to within 2j miles of our Depot, and will be
completed to Macnn early this fall. This Road is in daily operation to Griffin. 60 miles above Macon ; and, by the first
of December, will be opened for Business to Leakville,21 miles above Griffin; nud to the junction wi;h the Western and
Atlantic Rail-Road, early next spring. That portion of the Road originally laid with the thin plate Hail, has been
rebuilt this summer, and laid with heavy flange Rail, and the whole Road from Macon to Griffin, is now in good order for
business.
Merchants living in the upper part of the State, will find it decidedly to their interest, to ship their goods by wav of
8avannab.over the Central and this Ilnil-Road consigned to our Agents, as goods can be hauled from Barnesville or#viflin
to Columbus, for 45 a 50 rents per 100 pounds, or any oilier part of the country at proportionable rates.
All goods will be sent forward immediately, unless otherw ise ordered.
