That community may have some idea of the extremes TO
which disease may go without being bejwid the reach ot
medicine, it is deemed proper to append the following sta.e
me tits of facts, taken from a number of ainiilar import, which
mav Vet be submitted as room and circumstance may adroit.
- Bibb Cousty, Jan. Dth. 1844.
This mav certify that my wife has been afflicted with
Dvspepsiu and Liver complaint for“tweive years, and has
taken a variety of medicines without apparent beneht; even
tiieiusUv celebrated Dr Durham of Clark county, faded to
benefit her. She suffered much from nervous irritability*
palpitation of tbe heart and extreme w eakness so os to be
confined almost entirely to her bed. In tins situation I ap-.
pUed to Dr. M. S. Thomson, of Macon, under whose direc-
’ lions ana applications. I am happy to say, she soon was ies-
tored to comfortable health, and is now able to attend to all
tbe usual businesaof her hojuse and family.
My daughter was also afflicted witn convulsive fits, from
which Dr. Durham failed to relieve her. I applied to Dr.
Thomson also in her case, and I am persuaded he has tt-
nally cared her; she Ua had no symptom oT them in six
months
Bui these though certainly cf their kind very eminenl,
cannot be commie d lor a moment with the case ol one cl
my boos, who has been afflicted with j>aisy to such a degree
as to have become perfectly helpless. He first lost the use ot
hisVimh*. then of his body, and finally his heaui.no and
eyesight, so that he might be in a manner dead, only he
breathed, and even that at one time, woa so nearly gone,
that ilia clothes were prepared in antiripatiun of his final ex
it. We bad made use of the usual remedies in such ca
ses, and even had applied to Dy. Stringlellow. a root doc-
tor, but wi'Lout benefit. In this sitbatiou. Dr. Thomson
was called in, who I am happy to say, has restored him not
only to the full aud free use of all bis limbs, but also to tbe
-use of his eyes and ears, without which creation were a
blank and life itself a burden. ' Tbe change is so great from
absolute htlplessnesM. blindues* and deaf him to life and
activity, sight and hearing, that it can hardly be realised
bv any but those who have seen it. This is a cure which,
numerous as those effected by UieDocwr are. will linrdly
give precedence to any. ISAAC WATTb.

Will confer a
to coiinuuoicate for the benefit of my fellow-men.—
Some lime during last year, iny son William, about 10
year* old, was taken with a paraletic affection, by which lie
was entirely deprived of the useofhis lower extreinitie*
and body, ao far as to be perfectly unable to change bis post,
tion either on his pallet or in bed,—bis limbs became con
tracted and sometimes appeared tobespasmod-caliy affected; -
tne contraction appeared to ascend gradually to bis body, till
it reached his Lbdomen, the lower part of which was so
powerfully contracted, as to llitow the upper part upon the
lungs, which so compressed them as almn« to produce suf
focation; the parts protruding from just under the ribs to an
unnatural size. To walk was impossible, and eventbe pow-
er of the will had no influence over his limbs. Id ibis sit
uation. I carried him to Macon and placed him under llie
care ol Dr. Thomson, of that city ; in two months I carried
him hmncvgreatly relieved; the course was still pursued for
two months lgore. and my son, once llie helpless, moping,
decrepid and palsied invalid, is now the active, cheerful and
bouyaniooy of former days, running about every where, from
morning till night, so food of field sports, that he has become
a perfect terror to rabbits, partridges A other game that may
E resume to lurk upon the plantation; and so pleased will*
is new acquired liberty, that he himself hawbecome the
liveliest in his circle of’contemporary acquaintance. The
result was so little anticipated by me, and by all who were
acquainted with the case, that it ba* been deemed of sum
nance to merit publicity, by giving it which, you

rfllUE detcrminaiion ot ihe manager o’ this establish-
JL ment to carry into effect new arrangements, to take
place on tlie first of March, 1945, renders it important, as
well as absolutely neressarv, that the entire nnd valuable
stock of DRY GOODS be’for next seventy'days, thrown
upon tbe market, to bir disposed of at some price or other—
Cost or no Cost. However unreasonable it may appear,
vet the subscriber deems it absolutely - necessary to make
the sacrifice, in order to close up hUpast and present busi
ness previous to March, 1845. We have no lime to par
ticularize, but would merely say, ilint we have got to dis
pose of a great many goods in a shoit time. This id to be
accompli lied by cheap prices—and the People shall have
these prices for the next seventy days. Thankful for the
favors of a.benevolent public in times past, the subscriber
takes this method to say, that a continuance of the same
will aid us much in doaiug up our business with despatch.
