quotations at fault again. Nothing is doing. [Since
the report of that news rvc hear only a single
transaction, embracing eight bales at 10c. 150 at
lie. and 30 at 11 1-4 arc reported to have taken
place to-day beferc the receipt of the news.
The receipts nt tho warehouses in town (exclu
sive of East Macon,) for the past week were 2,705
bales.

Domestic Cotton Markets.
The Niagara’s news operated as a “stunner” on
the Cotton Market generally, and for a while par
alysed operations and unsettled all quotations. The
Modtlx Market was the first to recover, and last
Friday heavy sales were reported at £ advance.
Receipts of the week 14,000. On Saturday there
were disastrous fires In Mobile and we see no ac
count of transactions. About $160,000 worth of
property were consumed on that day in three store
houses and ns many dwellings.
In New Orleans, on Friday, a quarter cent’s re
covery on tho depression by the Niagara, was ex
perienced. Middling was quoted at 11} to 12c,
Receipts of the clay, 18.000 bales—of tho week,
50,000. Stock, 16'),000 bales—decrease at that
point, 167,000 bales, and at all the ports, 312,800
bales.
Iu Acocsta, on Friday, nothing done. On Sat
urday, the soles were J000 bales nt 11 7-S, and
some small parcels at 12c.
In Savannah, on tlic 20th the market was par
alysed. Sales only 42 boles at 12 and 12 5-Sc.
On Saturday, sales 31 bales at 12 l-4c.
In New York, 18th., the market declined half a
cent under tho Niagara’s news. Small sales of
Middling Upland at 12}c. On tho 19th, Market
quiet, and so continued up to Saturday night,
without report of sales or quotations.

At a regular meeting of Young America Fire Com
pany, No. 3, held at the Council Chamber, Nov. 2d.
1857, the following preamble and resolutions was
adopted.
whereas. Death having invaded the ranks of
our company, we ore colled upon to mourn tho loss
of our beloved friend and fellow Fireman, JOSEPH
B. CRAWFORD, who died in this city on tho 31st of
Oct. last, of Congestion of tho Brain in the 19th
year of his age, in the morning of his life and use
fulness—and whereas we deeply feel tho loss we have
sustained, be it therefore
Retolval, That in the death of our brother, Joieph
B. Crawford, we deplore the loss of a good and
energetic Fireman, a noble, generous friend.
Resolred, That while we bow with becoming rev-
ence to tho dispensation of Providence, we sre con
soled by. knowing it is the will of Him who doctli all
things well.
Itexolced, That our warmest sympathies are awa
kened in behalf of the family and friends of tho de
ceased, and to them we tender onr sincere condo
lence.
Resolred, That os a token of Respect to the memo
ry of the deceased, the Engine ana Engine Room of
the Company be draped in mourning, and that wc

T HAT deoirable and valuable plantation belong
ing to the estate of Benjamin May, late of
Bibb County, deceased, will be sold before the
Court House door, in the city of Macon, on tha first
Tuesday in January next. Thisplace is lying ou the
road leading from Macon to Tliomaston, and only
twelve miles from the city of Macon, and contains
seven hundred seres more or less, of oak and Hick
ory land, about four huudred of which is c-'eared-the
remaining three hundred all in woods and beauti
fully timbered—fifty acres of the cleared land was
cut down last winter. On the premises is a large
framed dwelling, good kitchen and ne^ro houses, a
good gin house and cotton Press, and. all necessaiy
out houoes; the fencing in good repair. The lands
lav remarkably well, well watered, with springs and
branches, a good well in tbe yard, the water of which
is not to bo surpassed by any in Middle Georgia.
Peach and Apple orchard. There is on the premises
n large Mulberry orchard, which affords fruit all
through the summer, and great for raising hogs.
The health of the place, convenience of market, mills,
schools and churches, renders it one of tbe most val
uable and interesting places in tbe State. All persons
wishing to purchase will do well to look at this
ilace before buying elsewhere. The premises will
te shown to persons wishing to view them by Mr.
Watson the overseer on tbo plantation, or the under
signed, living in the same vicinity. Also at the same
time and place twenty-seven likely negroes, consist
ing of men, women and children belonging to said
deceased,—two of said negroes are boss carpenters.
