Mr. J. H. Stewart gave us a call yes
terday. He is one of the good and clev
er farmers just above Winder and in-
us that lie has already turned
over fifteen acres of land.
Mrs. R L. Mobley and children have
been spending several weeks in Coving
ton. Mr. Mobley is getting quite an
xious for their return and it is a hard
matter to hold him here many days be
fore ho has to run down and see them.
They will return latter part of the week.
Hodges, Camp & Arnold are offering
special bargains in shoes for the next
few weeks.
Mr. R. L. Carithers after two years as
mayor of Winder retired the first of the
year and did not offer for re-election. He
is one of Winder’s prominent financiers
and has served as mayor a number of
terms since locating here about twelve
or fourteen years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Mitchell, who have
resided in Lithonia since their marriage
several years ago, have moved to Win
der to make their future home. Mrs.
Mitchell was raised here being a daugh"
ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Coker.
R. P. Williams does all kind of re
pair work, and especilly repair on Guns
and Pistols. I am prepared to do all
kind of small turning for engines etc.
Mr. Harper, the State Agent of the
Aetna Life Insurance Cos., spent a
couple of days in Winder this week.
Mr. Nick Rainey, of Mulberry, left
for Macon Monday to enter the busi
ness college of that city. Nick is a
young man of fine business qualities
and popular with all who know him.
He believes iu a thorough preparation
for any undertaking and making that
undertaking a success. He will be
away for about three months, Mr,
Cris Gunnin, another bright young
man of Mulberry, went with Nick to
take a business coarse.

Family Reunion.
Mr. A. E Knight, our popular pho
tographer, went just after Xmas day
to a family reunion of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Clack, near Lawrenceville.
While there he took a picture of the en
tire family. Mr. Knight says he never
enjoyed a day better than the one with
these good old people at their reunion.
From Mr. Clack’s he went co Buford to
visit his sisters and returned home last
week elated over his pleasant, trip of
nearly one week in Gwinnet county.
Mr. Clack was 75 years of age and Mrs*
Click 65 at the time of the reunion
above mentioned. They have eleven
children—eight boys and three girl 6
all living. They have 53 grand children,
all living except five. This is the small
est death record we ever knew for so
large a family.

Delightful Entertainment
Mr. and Mrs. Toole entertained a com
pany of friends Monday evening at

avenue. The occasion was a progress

Messrs W. H. Bash, R. L Carithers
and Harry Hodges have very much
beautified Lawrenoeville street from
Broad to Center streets by putting out
shade trees. Mr. J. H. Potter of our
city furnished the trees and put
them oat for them. Mr. Potter is a

in different parts of Winder and if you
want shade it would be well to see him.

The preparation of the work for tak
ing the 12th United States census will

ROBBED THE GRAVE.
A startling incident of whioh Mr,
John Oliver of Philadelphia, was the
subject, 19 narrated by him as follows:
‘‘l was iu a most dreadful condition.
