Mrs. McNorton became a member of
Bethabra Baptist ohurch, in the county
of her birth and near where she was
raised, when only fourteen years of age
and lived a consistent member ’till her
death, a period of fifty years, never
changing her membership during all
that time. She was truly a Christian,
charitable, kind and sympathetic. She
leaves three daughters, Mrs. John J.
Strickland, of Athens, Mrs. Oscar
Brown and Miss Minnie McNorton;
also a step sou, Mr. A M. McNorton, of
Starsville, Georgia.
The best medical skill that could be
had was with her during her illness.
Her children were devotedly attached
to her, and although she was perfectly
reoonc led to doparr for a brighter home
beyond the skyes, talking whn loved
ones aud friends about death and re
questing toat the 231 Psalm be read at
her burial service, the oul/ regret seem
ed to be in leaving her children.
Mrs. McNorton had been living in
Winder for the pas* three years and her
death was learned with much sadness
by her many friends here who loved
her for her gentleness and Christian
virtues. She was interred at the old
family cemetery in Oconee, the fnneral
services being cond acted by Rev H. R.
Barnard, of Athens, assisted by Revs.
