Mrs. M. E. Patman is visiting in the
country this week.
Judge Bradbury, of Jefferson, was
here Tuesday on business.

the protracted services at that place.
The many friends of Mr. John Mill
saps will be rejoiced to kuow that he
has greatly improved since last week.

Col. W. I. Pike, one of Jackson Coun

we learn that he and Mrs. Johns are

Miss Lena Betts, of Athens, who has
been visiting with friends at Social Cir
cle has returned to Winder and is the
guest of Miss Manch Stanton.
Miss Bell Fowler, of Pendergrass, re
turned home Monday after a visit of sev
eral days with her uncle and aunt, Mr.
and Mrs. W. J. Herrin, of our city.
Miss M. O. Lyle, of Jefferson, who
has been visiting her sister, Mrs. W. C.
Orr, of Athens, is spending some time
now with her brother, Mr. W. K Lyle,
of onr city.

Winder Christian Church.
Protracted services began at the
Christian ciurch here last Sunday aud
will continue all the week. Rey. J. H.
Wood is a consecrated man and able
preacher. He is assisting the paster
Rev. S. P. Spiegel and every one who
can should attend the services.

Mr. M. J. Hardigree, of Chandler’s
district was in Winder Monday on his
return home from Heart and Coweta
Counties where he has been spending a
month. He reports crops not good in
that section.

Mr. S. M. Welborn, of Oconee county,
was in the city Monday. Mr. Welborn
is in the race for Ordinary of his county
on the Populist ticket and we hope he
will be successful.

About Sept. 10th the firm of J. D.
Puett & Cos. will open in the granite
building on Candler street an up-to
date dry goods business. Mr. A. D.
McCurry has accepted a position with
them and as Mr. McCurry is a man of
years experience in the dry goods busi
ness, we predict for them a success.
Mr. McCurry will leave for New York
about September Ist to purchase their
stock. They will carry a full line of dry
goods, notions, shoes, hats aud millin
ery.
