Messrs. S. W. Arnold and T. H.
Hodges are getting the material on the
ground for the erection of a largo brick
building. It will be 26h 2 x 100 feet and
front on Jackson street, opposite the
big store of Hodges, Camp & Arnold.
Dr. Bush is thinking of building next
to Messrs. Arnold and Hedges, and if he
does both buildings will have two sto
ries.
Mr, P. P. Jennings reached home
Sunday from South Georgia he
has been for several weeks in the inter
est of the Jackson County Nursery.

Mr. Charlie Sellers, of near Winder,

much with his eye, which was badly
injured by a piece steel striking it while

view of locating. The greatest trouble
now' in Winder is there are not enough
dwelling houses.

There will, in all probability, be no
opposition to the reelection of Judge J.
J. Wallis as Justice of the Peace for
this distiict. He has made a good con
scientious officer and should have it an
other term if he desires it. The elec
tion comes off on the first Saturday in
December.

Mr. John McEntyre, who used to live
in this county, but who left here four
years ago or more, has opened a shop
here this week and is ready to shoe
horseß and do any other wo'k you want
done. John went through the war with
Spain and can tell some interesting
stories of his two years spent in the

Old Veteran in Journalism
Col. Lawsha, who has been spending
sometime in our city writing life insur
ance, is one of the old veterans in jour
nalism. Twenty years ago and more
he edited and owned the Gainesville
Southron, one of the brighest and
strongest edited weeklies in Georgia. We
like to go back to those days of our
youth, and when wo do, the name of
Col. Lawsha and the Southrou come
afresh to our memory and is a source of
much pleasure. He still has that fear
less and independant spirit that made
him felt in his newspaper carreer—a
spirit that is admired by all brave men.
May he live long and prosper.

106 Years Old.
Old Uncle Harry Camp, colored, who
lived on the Mulberry river, a few miles
from Winder, died last week. He was
the oldest man in the county if he was
correct as to when he was born. He
claimed to be 106 years old and up to a
short while ago often walked to Winder
and back home, the round trip being
twelve mile? or more. Some of the old
people who have kuown him for 75 or
80 years are of the opinion that he was
as old as he claimed to be.
