THE DOOR SLAMS
ON HAPPINESS
Poor Blood Makes
Bad Health—Then
Come the “Blues.”
Once the vigor of ml blood becomes
sapped of its strength, the door to hap
piness is literally slammed. Weariness
„f body follows and it unfailingly en
genders depressed thoughts. To be re
serred and che/iless becomes a habit.
After a time there is an almost filmy
dimness in the expression of the eyes
and a pallor to the skin. Days seem dull
and dark and dffiicult. A sense of
insufferable gloom peavades the spirit.
Vpijen it is that Gucle's Pepto-Man
gan is the great help_ It is a red blood
builder. It puts red into the blood
increases 'the numlieu of
which make blood rich and red. When
the blood is restored to its natural
* healthy state, The sensation, of well
being returns. Isstead of shuffling
;*ong carelessly, there is the firm and
springy step, the bright lusterful eyes,
the clear complexion, identified with
tiie strength and vigor of good health.

To insure a healthy action of the

the bowels, without unpleasant effects,
but banish that dull, stupid feeling, that

How’s Your Stomach?

Health is Most Vital to You
Durham, N. C. —“As for Dr. Pierce’s
Golden Medical Discovery which I use

It is not unpleasant to take and does not

Taking Desperate Chances.
It is true that many contract severe
colds and recover from them without
taking any precaution or treatment,
anil a knowledge of this fact leads oth
ers to take their chasces instead of
giving their colds the needed attention.
It should be borne in inind that every
cold weakens the lungs, lowers the vi
tality, makes the system less able to
withstand each succeeding attack and
paves the way for the more serious dis
eases. Can you afford to take such
desperate chances when Chamberlain’s
Cough Remedy, famous for its cures of
bad colds may be had for a trifle?
THE WINDER NEWS
DEAD AND CRAZY.
Fifty-six thousand six hundred and
thirty - eight visits were made by
charity patients to the seven
venereal disease clinics in Georgia
within the past twelve months. How
many do you suppose were made to
the 3,400 physicians of the State?
The clinics also administered 15.159
doses of GO6 for syphilis. Don’t you
think the venereal diseases are some
problem? There Is nothing to com
pare with it so far as infectious and
contagious diseases are concerned.
If allowed to continue it means *h
cutting off of the race, and those who
remain will be crazy.
Of the children that die under ten
years of age, 6 out of 10 die during
the first year. During the second year
there are 15%, so that during the first
two years of life 3/4 of the child deaths
occur. Higli birth rates mean nothing
in- repopula* ing the country if the chil
dren die before reaching the reproduc
tive age.
* You vaccinate against smallpox. In
1920 there were 414 times as many
deaths from diarrhoea in children un
der two years of ago as from smallpox.
Every town and school should have
a well-constructed play ground with
the proper equipment; it pays to play.

FIGHT OR FAIL
When Abraham Lincoln was a young man
ne ran for the legislature in Illinois, and
was overwhelmingly defeated.
He next entered business, failed, and spent
seventeen years of his life paying up the
debts of a worthless partner.
He was in love with a beautiful young wom
an to whom he became engaged-then she
died. ,
Later he married a woman who was a con
stant burden to him.
* He then tried to get an apointment to the
U. S. Land Office, but failed.
Entering polities again, he ran for the U. S.
Senate and was badly defeated.
In 1856 he became a candidate for the vice
presidency and was again defeated.
In 1858 he was defeated by Douglas.
One failure after another-bad failures
great setbacks. In the face of all this he
eventually became one of the country’s
greatest men, if not THE greatest.
When you think of a series of setbacks like
this doesn’t it make you feel small to become
discouraged, just because you think you are
having a hard time in life?
We do not claim to make a president out
of you, but we CAN double and treble your
earning capacity-write us.
