The measure is being put into a
much more comprehensive form
than that in which it was origi
nally drawn, and the idea which
Senator Smith orginated is now
receiving the aid and hacking of
all the law makers in Washington
who are particularly interested in
agricultural improvement.
A big delegation from the con
vention which was recently call
ed by Association of Farm Pa
pers in America has just been in
Washington, bringing to the at
tention of Congress and the Pres
ident the importance of this legis
lation, looking to better methods
in marketing crops and better pre

gation represented a convention
which had been attended by lead
ing agricultural experts and writ
ers from 24 states and 4 foreign
countries. The committee held
a conference in Washington with
Senator Surth, at whose instance
the last Si ssion of Congress ineluc
ed in the agricu’tma appropria
tion bill the sum of $50,000 for
preliminary work in establishing
the division of markets in the
Department of Agriculture. The
work is already 'going forward
under the Secretary of Agrieui
ture’s direction. i

Mr. B. B. Phillips spent Satur
day night with Mr- J. W. Phillips.
The little daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. All>ert Phillips was quite sick
last week.
Mr. Carl Brooks spent a short
while Saturday evening with W. W,
Fields and family.
Mr. Carl Brooks made an inter
esting and helpful talk to the Sun
day school Sunday.
Messrs. T. J. Doster and Hugh
Phillips spent Saturday night with
H. A Doster’s-family.
Mr. Homer Phillips and family
spent Sunday afternoon with Mr.
R. L. Phillips and family.
Messrs. Hugh Phillips and T. J.
Doster went to Dacula last week to
attend the district meeting of Odd
Fellows.
Our Sunday school is on a boom.

for the last few days.
Uncle Elijah Martin, from below

Mr. M. L. Wheeler and daugh
ter, Estelle, of Hoschton, were vis
itors here Sunday.
Mrs. Luther Brewer has been in
feeble health for some time, but we
hope is convalescing. -
Mr. Clinton Thomas and wife
spent Saturday night in Hoschton,
as guests of the latter’s parents.
Rev. J. C. Patrick filled the pul
pit at Nazareth Saturday and Sun
day and preached two able sermons.
Mr and Mrs. Hill Wall, of near
Auburn, were guests of their daugh
ter. Mrs. Charlie Wood Sunday
night.
The little baby of Mr. and Mrs.
W. C. McDougal has been on the
sick list for a few days but is better
at this time,
Mr. Marion Doster, accompanied
by James, the son of J. W- Doster.
spent Sunday near Lawrenceville,
the guest of his brother.
Our singing class met at the
home of Misses Zelma and Bessie
Thomas Sunday night, and report
a nice time and good singing.
W. T. Robinson, of Winder, ac
companied by his family, was visit
iting and shaking hands with his
many friends in this section Sun
day.
Harlan, the little child of Mr.
and Mrs. J. W. Doster, who has
been in a very critical condition for
several days is better at this writ
ing.
Mrs. Lona Patrick, wife of Rev.
J. C. Patrick, has returned home
after spending several weeks here
with her father and mother. Dur
ing her visit the stork called and
left her a baby boy.
Sunday afternoon at the Sunday
school Prof. John Beard and Miss
Porter, of Cave Springs, and many
other good singers were present.
You who were not there missed
some good singing. We are glad
indeed that the older ones <>f this
* seotion are waking, up on Sabbath
work. May God speed the day

Trip to Mountains.
Mr. C. M. Thompson, Mr. and
Mrs. Ernest Cook and Miss Latrelle
Thompson have returned from a

where they went sight-seeing and
to visit relatives. All report a fine
