Hale, on the West side. They will return to their home, West End, Atlanta, Ga., the latter part of next week. Mr. J. T Strange, accompanied by Mr. A. D. McCurry, the expert silks, fancy dress goods and notions buyer, left Sunday for New York and the Eastern markets. They will be gone about ten days. While in the East these gentlemen expect to secure many bargains and pretty designs, and of course their custo mers will derive much benefit from their good taste and fine judgement in buying. Mr. Guy Thurmond, of Shit ham, : came down Tuesday night to at tend drill of the Winder Guards. ' If any one doubts that Guy is the 'champion sprinter of the company, :ho should have witnessed his i dash for the train Tuesday night. We have not heard whether or not he caught the train, but if he kept i up the pace he was going,it is a safe l>et that he went in Statham in the i lead. _ Miss Bessie Ham was the charm ing hostess Friday afternoon at a porch party given in honor of her guest, Miss Hoge of Charleston, S. C. Miss Ham received her guests wearing a lingerie dress over pink. Miss Hoge was attractive in a mes jsoline gown over blue taffeta. The 1 porch in its decorations of palms and ferns was exquisite.
