Oops look ing good, trade loosening up. Brother B. F. Fraser, of Gaines ville, is conducting a tent meeting here. Many have made profession of faith and joined the church. A great good is being done. Sunday night at the tent meeting there was raised $712 to seat the new church and to finish paying it out of debt- Several citizens are attending court tins week at Jefferson. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Camp, of Charlotte, N. (!., are visiting T>r. and Mrs. W. I\ DeLaperriere this week. Dr. Jim DeLaperriere and wife, of Winder, are visiting relatives here thi* week. Mr W. B. MeCants and family were welcome visitors in town last week. Mr. Melvoy Smith, of Texas, is with friends and relatives here for a few days. Miss Lillie Pirkle, who has been visiting in Texas, returned home Tuesday, to the delight of her many friends. Hon. Jim Flanigan and wife, of Lawrcneeville, are visiting the former’s brother, Mr I). ,1. Flani gan, here this week. Mayor C. M. Hudgins is on his way to New \ ork to buy goods for the new linn of Hudgins and Cooper. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Fowler, of Pendergmss, are visiting friends in town. Mr. Bob Fowler and sisters, Misses Cleo and Pearl, are welcome guests of Miss Flora Lott this week. Mis Ines King, of Atlanta, has joined her sisters at the lloseh House for the summer. Mr. Lindon Pentecost spent the week-end with relatives in Atlanta. Mrs. Scott Jackson and daughter, Miss Tassie, of Commerce, visited friends in this'Section last Sunday. Miss Alice McElhanon is visiting friends in Monroe this week. Miss Bertha McDonald visited her sister, Mrs. H. E. Haynie last Sunday. A party of men from here went to south Georgia this week. Miss Stella Wall, of Statham,and Miss Lavada Wood,of Atlanta, were the guests of Miss Sallie Patrick last Sunday night. PARADISE. A protracted meeting will start at Midway church next Sunday. Rev. Foster will clothe preaching. Everybody is invited to attend these services. Mr. and Mrs. L. 1.. Rogers spent a few days last week with Mr. Har die Cosby and family. Misses Minnie and Maude Clack and little brother, Luther, visited their sister, Mrs. Ada Ward,in Oco nee county, Wednesday and Thurs day . Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Waters, of Campton, spent Tuesday in our com m unity. Mrs- Emma Attaway and niece, Miss Maude Clack,visited Mrs. Bell Perkins Friday afternoon. Misses Lola Chandler and Victory Johnson were the guests of Mrs. John Edgar Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Green Graham, of Winder,visited Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Wood at this place Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Smith and two daughters, Misses Berta and Yallie, attended preaching at Win der Sunday. Quite a number from here attend" |ed preaching at Chapel Sunday. Mr. Florence Coshy is carrying the mail on Route 21 this week. CORINTH. The protracted meeting began at Corinth Wednesday. Several from here have been at tending preaching at Chapel. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Hinesley and Mrs. O. A. Johnson and grand daughter, Miss Essie Johnson, vis ited the home of Mr Billy Smith Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Tharon Hinesley were visiting the latter's parents Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Fuller have been visiting relatives at Mansfield and Covington recently.- Mr. David Smith will soon have his new residence completed. Mr. and Mrs. Clay Hinesley, of near Bethel, visited Mr. J. T. Hinesley Sunday afternoon. The little Mr. Arvil Smith was buried at the Smith bury ing ground Saturday afternoon. Mr. J. T. Hinesley and son, J. W. Hinesley, went to' Jefferson Monday, attending court. Mr. and Mrs. Rich Johnson and family, Mr. and Mr. Cephas Mal corn, of Oconee county, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Tom Austin. Mr. J. W. Odum, of Bethlehem, visited his granddaughter, Mrs. J. M. Fuller, Wednesday morning. Mrs. P. W. Kinney has been very sick with fever, but we are glad to say she is better. Miss Lemma Thompson and brother, William, spent last Satur day night at Mr. J. M. Fuller’s- Mr W. M. Fuller, of Athens,is at home for a few days. STATHAM. M iss Vera Wise, of Bogart, was the guest of Miss Hattie Aycock last week. Miss Ovelia Arnold has returned from a month’s visit to Monroe, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Cody, of At lanta, have returned home after several days’ visit to relatives. ■*% Miss Annie May Perkins is visting relatives and friends in Mon roe, and Walton county. Dr. L. J. Camel spent the week end with home folks in Lawrence ville. Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Morris, of Atlanta, are expected the latter part of this week to he the guests of the latter’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Tol Lester. Miss Edna Day is spending the week with her grandmother, near Winder- We are sorry to note the serious illness of Dr. Jeff Sikes. Miss Addie Ixx’khart, of Canton, Ga., is visiting her brother at Hotel Lanier. Mesdames J. P. and L. M. Arnold left Friday for Monroe.N. C., where they w ill he the guests of the former 's sister. * Miss Eddie Wiiborn, of Atlanta, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Jeff Sikes. Miss Zona Ross is visiting re latives in Hoschton this week. Quite a crowd of our young people enjoyed a singing at tht home of Mr. and Mrs. Pink Dooley Monday night. Messrs. Dakin and Jackson were present , and rendered some beautiful songs. Miss Ruby Lester, of Macon, is the admired guest of her grandfather, Mr. Pat Lester, on Broad street. Miss A. T. Maund has returned to tier home in Geneva, Ga., after a very pleasant visit to her sister, Mrs. Lockhart. Mrs. Clarence Aycock, of Walton county, is visiting Mrs. Tom Aycock. Mr. Asberry Collier, of Alabama, was shaking hands with old friends here last week. Mr. and Mrs. T. N. Lester, at tended the annual rneetiny at Jack Creek, Walton county, last Satur day and Sunday. Mrs. Jim Cody is quite sick at her home on Broad street. RUSSELL. 1 £ Mr. W. P. Smith is at Bethlehem. Mrs. Florence Bell is real sick at this writing. Mrs. W. H. Burson is visiting her sick sister, Miss Martha Gillespie,in Walton county. Mr. Anderson, West of Athens, Ga., is visiting Judge R. B.Russell. The protracted services being held at Chapel church are largely attended. * Misses Thao, Memphis and Blanche Smith made a short call Sunday afternoon at their uncle’s, Mr. Will Smith, of this place. Miss Lillian Moore is teaching school at Patric’ks Academy Col. Merrit, of Boston, Ga., is visiting his sister, Mrs. Moore. Susie May and Willie Cox, two bright little girls, of Danielsville, is spending the week with their uncle, Mr. John Cox. Mr. Merce Austin and wife are visiting the former’s aunt, Mrs. Missouri Cox. Judge R. B. Russell is at home for a few days. Mrs. John Russell visited Mrs. R. B. Russell one day this week. COUNTY LINE. Brother Oxford, of Atlanta, is assisting Brother Higgins in a se ries of meetings at Bethabara. Many are getting on board the gospel train to travel on in that good old fashioned way. It has been the pleasure of the writer to spend a few days-at Zion, and we found those good folks in gaged in tne work of the Master. Miss Dermi r Pentecost, who has been attending school, is at home for a few days. Mr. Henry McDonald and wife, of near Commerce, is visiting in this section. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Meadow passed through this section and stopped at the writer's a short while en route to their home in Walton. Miss Rebeca Johnson, of Greens borro, is visiting relatives in this section. Mi. J. T. Bowles and family, of Braselton, Ga., have been breaking bread at our home. Mrs. G. W. Bachelor, of Walnut, is visiting her daughter. Mr. editor, no doubt you have already come to the conclusion that the chickens have thinned out at this place, but still they come. Messrs. Dave Hall and family, Aticus Adams and family,and Pres ton, his brother, of- Buekhead, are here for a week or ten days. Col. J. C. Flanigan and wife, of Lawrenceville, also Mrs. W. G. Elder, of Winder, is spending the week at the Anderson House. Gee buck, yonder comes Will Williams and his mother. Didn’t ha'.'e but one old hen left. Guess she’ll be carried to Nero block now. I’ts a long lane that never turns. When those Chapel boys came up they came after the game and they got it. The score stood 7-4 in fa vor of Chapel. Mr. Scott Hardy and family, of near Winder, are visiting at Mr. James Hardy’s. It looks to me like there will be something doing before long. Guess we’ll get some cake. Mr. E. Martin is back at home after spending a few days at Flowery Branch. We certainly did enjoy the cream supper at our house Saturday night. We eat till we were cold within as well as without. Mighty tough to have to go to work now after frolicking around so long, but fodder is about ready/ and it must be pulled.
