IN MEMORY. Death in its sadest state has vis ited our ranks and removed from us our true, faithful and much loved neighbor and brother, Mr. J. C. Pentecost, who was l>orn January 9, 1875, and died September 24, 1908. In losing him we very keen ly feel our loss. It is hard to com prehend the loss of such a noble man. He was thirty-three years of age, in the prime of young man hood, and useful to business life as well as to the community in which he lived. He was a good man, took a groat, interest in Sunday school and anything that would bet ter the people who lived in touch with him. lie stirremh red his life to hi? master at Pentecost church in September, 1905, was baptized in October of the same year and became a faithful member until his death. He was married in 1907 to Miss Blanch Haslett, of Lawrencevilie. Their voyage was short, lasting but one year, but it must have been nothing but joy, peace and happiness. By their happy and genial dispositions they cast a ray of sunshine into the lives of all those with whom they came , in contact. This pleasant union came to an unexpected end, which was heart rending to behold and hard lx*ar by the devoted young wife. I Mr. Pentecost, was firm to liis convictions, believing Clod to be the nnthor and finisher of salvation. file was a faithful, hard worker and was ever ready to sacrifice time and money for the advancement of the cause of Christ. He was a faithful and devoted husband, a dutiful son and a kind and consid siderate brother. Besides liis dear wife, he leaves his father, six broth ers, one sister and a host of rela tives and friends to mourn liis un timely death. But liis race is run, his tight is finished and we humbly submit to the will of the all wise Father, having the consoling thought that Columbus is at rest in the home of the redeemed. To the bereaved ones we would say: While the dark shadows of gloom and sorrow fall heavily upon you and you see no way to bear this great burden, comfort yourself with, the thought that liis going away has added another jewel to the I { home of the soul and pray God’s i blessings that you may meet again where no death will separate. in October 1899 Mr. Pentecost was initiated into tin* independent Order of Odd Fellows at Beech Creek and went through the chairs in this lodge, tilling each ofllce with credit to himself and the or der. He was appointed district deputy grand master of the thir teenth district and proved himself a most capable officer and a noble Odd Fellow. Therefore be it Resolved, That Beech Creek Lodge No. 121. I. (). O. F., which he loved ao much, extend to the be reaved family our deepest and most heart-felt sympathy in this hour of sorrow; and. Resolved, That a copy of this* pre amble and resolutions he spread on the minutes of this lodge and a copy he sent the bereaved family;- and, Resolved, That same !>e published in The Winder News. The question has often l>een asked ; “What’s is a name?” Sometimes it is answered one way and some- 1 times another, but the verdict I generally is that the name has very : little to do with the success or failure of an individual. Still names one sometimes amus- i ing. For instance when a certain] Free Piano Contest How Many Times Can You Write the Three Words Wester Music House On a Card or Sheet of Paper Measuring 3 Inches by 4 inches? The man in South Georgia by the name of Turnipsced who gave his boy the Christian name “Rutabuger” should have been sent to the chain-gang for a year or more.
