Mr. and Mrs. Prince Adams, of this place, spent Monday with Mr. Luther Adams and family. Mrs. A. P. Perry and children spent Sunday evening with Mrs. J. H. Clack. Mrs. Emma Attaway is spending this week at Auburn, the guest of her sister, Mrs. H- R. Williams. The Jokers Met Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock with Miss Lucy Jackson. CHAPEL CHURCH —- Entertains Jackson County Singing Convention. _ ■ “ -w~ f~ The Jackson County Singing Con vention met with chapel church Sunday December 13. The meeting was called to order by President J. E. J. Lord and after some introductory remarks by Sthe president, the convention was by Rev. J. H. Wood. Then thcT|lluH|ing program was carried out: Opening by the ’ president. Then the following for ten minutes each: Profs. J. E. Mathews, J. Ik J. Lord and W. L. Sikes. ty The time having John H- Wo6d took charge and conducted the regular church ser viced. The meeting adjourned hour and the crowd was served wkh a most sumptuous dinner. m In the afternoon the followimj program was executed: m Messrs. William Wallace, Q. (if Phillips, Ji M. Cooper, John Will iams, J. H Baird, W. D. Wall A P Robertson, Fred G. Dakin, Jym* Ross and solo by J. 11. Baird., led the class for fifteen nUnutes, and all acquitted themselves well. At this the next was discussed and was car ried to Pentecost. The other churches .asking for the next meet ing were Galilee and Oconee. A resolution was past making the Athens and Jefferson road a line dividing the county in halves and that the convention in the fut ure must alternate from one side to the other; thus giving the entire county an equal chance to attend the meetings and entertain the con vention . The president thanked the peo ple of the Chapel community for their hospitality; then led the clos ing song. Benediction was Rev. John H. Wood. -/hi
