Miss Susie Dowdell. entertained a few friends Wednesday evening in honor of Misses Cochran and Johns. Enique contests were the features of the evening, after which delicious refreshments were served Tuesday Frank Bondurant’s au tomobile turned turtle and went down under an eight-foot embank ment near Athens, falling on Mr. Bondurant and his wife and child. Mr- R. J. Tuck has moved his stock of goods to the Flanigan music house, known as the' Garrison jew elry store, on Candler street, and will he glad to serve his friends. He will run a restaurant and hoard ing house in connection with his store. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cooper en tertained at tea last Tuesday even ing in a very charming manner at their pretty little hom'e on Broad street. After tea very interesting games were enjoyed. Those pres ent were Miss Norine Cooper, of Commerce, Misses Lizzie and Emma Cooper and Miss Tavia Mathews. IN HONOR OF VISITORS. Mrs. Blasingarne entertained Sat urday evening at a beautiful recep tion in honor of her visitor, Miss Cook, and Miss Cochran the guest of Miss Ruth Caritlu-rs. The house was beautiful in deco rati ms of flowers and ferns and there was a delightful cordiality and informality about the whole entertainment that - made it thoroughly enjoyable. RECKLESS SHOOTING. Wednesday afternoon a party of twelve young folks went target shoot ing. The affair was much enjoyed, it being s miewhat of a change in enter taining. Those who were ‘ ‘hunting ’ ’ were Misses Ethel Jackson, Susie Dowdell, Lucile Cochran, Ruby and Ruth C'arithers and Jewell Jonns, Messrs. Sisk, Cannon, Duke Ross, Cupid Potts, Hipp and Flan igan . MISS COKER ENTERTAINS. One of the delightful parties of last week was tho one Friday even ing at which Miss Claude Coker en tertained at her home an Church street in honor of a few of her Sta tham friends. The house was at tractive with vases of cut flowers on mantels and cabinets in all the rooms, combined with ferns and foliage plants effectively arranged. Punch was served throughout the evening and interesting games of heart-dice and bunco were the fea tures of entertaining. The prizes were Gibson pictures, and after the games a delicious salad course was served. I The regular monthly meeting of the F. 1). C. was held Wednesday afternoon, January 21, at the resi dence of Mrs. W. L. Blasingarne. Robert E. Lee was the suhj rt of the literary part of the program. Questions had ban previous]*’ given out and much interest was manifested in the finding of these answers. These questions will be printed each month in the paper, so that every m unln r may have a copy. Mrs. Walter Wood Invited the chapter to meet with her next time, which will ha February 21th. It is hoped that < vay member will be present. IN HONOR Of MiSS COCHRAN. Expressive of our mki-winter spring were the decorations of Mos lames (). M. and W. L. Jack son when they entertained Tuesday afternoon in honor of Miss Cochran. Throughout the lovely rooms, clusters of yellow jonquils filled quaint Japanese jars and cut glass on high mantels and tables. Quanti ties of ferns andpalins were an ef fective setting for the light gowns of the hostess and their guest, and bowls of purple violets were like a breath of April and suggested old fashioned gardens of ourgrand m jthers, with their delicate,elusive 4- sweetness, The score cards were heart shaped with dainty pen sketches upon them. Cut glass bon-bon dishes filled with candy were on each table. The game played was heart dice and more excitement was never shown. An elaborate buffet, luncheon was served. The creamed chicken was cooked in a chafwig dish at which Mrs. Walter Jackson presided. Those present were Miss Cochran, Miss Johns, Miss Bush, Miss Ethel Jackson, Miss Ora Lee Camp, Misses Ruby and Ruth Carithers, Miss Blair and Miss Coker. ENTERTAIN AT SUPPER. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Williamson entertained in a charming manner at supper Friday evening. Their pretty home was never more at tractive with its decorations of roses from their own gardens, bowles of narcissus and hyacinths and potted plants. The table appointments were ex tremely pretty and tasteful in every detail. A delightful menu was served in courses, the guests vying with each other in doing justice to the tempting viands- Invited to partake of their gen erous hospitality were Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Dunn, Mr. and Mrs- J. T. Strange and Miss Ilubie Carithers. THE JOKER MEETING. Miss Cleo Bush was at home to the Jokers and their visitors last Saturday afternoon. Many inter esting games were played, after which a delightful buffet luncheon was served. Each guest left feeling glad because of the fortune they had by being with such a charming hostess. Those present were Misses Eipma and Lizzie Cooper, Ethel Jayson,Kathleen Coker,Susie Dow dell'j Ora Lee Camp, Ruby and Ruth Carithers, Miss Cochran, Miss Johns, Miss Wall. SHE KEEPS THE MEDAL, m - mi In awarding its prize for regular attendance at the Methodist Sunday school it wa s learned that little Nell Mo-Cants, of Mrs- Biasingame’s class, was again to wear the modal. The record showed that Nell has missed only two Sundays in two years.
