The Negro’s Answer.
The depot at Covington, Ga., is
about a mile from the business part
of the town. One nigi.t Mr O. T.
Irby, who way weary and sleepy,
got off there, and said to the darky
who was driving him to the hottl:
“Old man, why in the name of
Heaven did they put this dep >t so
far from town?”
The darty scratched his head in
thought, and replied:
“Waal, boss, I’s fo’ced to admit
dat I has’nt give de matter s’ficient
cogitation, but jes’ jumped up for
a answer like dis, I s’pose dey ctoae
dat so as to have de depot as near
as possible to de railroad. '—Greens

The Show Girl Coming.
B. C. Whitney’s famous Broad
way success, “The Show Girl,’
laden with humor and wearing the
’mystic cap which R. A. Barnett
designed for her when the Boston
Cadets brought her out, will smile
upon the amusement seekers at the
Opera House Saturday, Nov. 6.
“The Show Girl” has received
careful attention, and money has
been expended without stint on the
costumes and scenery. A typical
Whitney chorus, dazzling as to
beauty and daintily arrayed, has
been provided and a cast of princi
pals said tc be better than any Mr.
Whitney has so far selected. The
cast is headed by the following well
known metropolitan favorites: John
My lie, Helen Stuart, Burt Eaton,
Mary Orth, Stella Rinehart, Ells
worth Ellis, Harry Border, Clem
Johnson, Rodney and Bartelle,
also a large chorus of dancing girls.
