Rev. R. J. Huff tilled hi" regular
appointment at the Russell Baptist

Mr. and Mrs. \V. J. Russell, of

Judge R. R. Russell Sunday.
The Sunhenm Society had a nice
meeting Sunday afternoon and was
glad to receive two new memliers,

went over to the residence of Mr.
J. I. J. Hell to see the cars as they
passed.
The Baptist church of this place
has called Rev. Seaborn Arnold for
their pastor next year.
Mr- and Mrs. J. R. Cox visited
their son, Fred, at New Timothy
Sunday.
Miss Mary Russell, of Winder,
spent several days with Mrs. R. B.
Russell last week.
Mrs. W. P. Smith and daughter,
Miss Della, made a flying trip to
Bethlehem last week.
Miss Marguerite Russell was con
fined to her home Sunday and
Monday with an attack of grip.
A nice new sty re house is being
built in Russell by Rev. K. J. Huff,
and Mr. E. W. Causey, who has
recently moved here from Newton.
THE RIDGE.
A good number of Ridgeites at
tended the singing at White Plains
last Sunday. All report a good
time. Yours truly went and had

W. H. Maxwell, cashier of our
bank, is smiling oyer the arrival of
two new stockholders, namely, Joe
Brown and Hoke Smith. This is

in seven years.
Dr B. O. Ragsdale will hold a
Bilile institute here beginning the
second Sunday in Deem her and con
tinue the following week. Every
body invited to attend.
The mayor’s election passed off
quietly. Mr. A. J. Pool was elected
to serve the ensuing term.
Mrs. Lee Chaffin, of Canton, is
spending a few days with her father,

The little son of Mr. R. P. Cheek
liad the misfortune to get his arm
broken last week. He is getting
along nicely.
There is some trading in real
estate here. J. N. Wilkerson has
purchased the Holder Ethridge
place and Mr. Ethridge has ac
quired the C. H. Morgan house and
lot, while Prof. Green has purchas
ed the property recently bought by
S. T. Maughon.

Lowers the Record
A 30 horse-power Buick, in Tuesday’s races,
defeated all competitors in the 200-mile event at
the Atlanta Speedway. All competitors were
frem 10 to 30 horse-power larger than the Buick
car, but the Buick finished first, in perfect con
dition, winning the Coca-Cola Trophy, valued
at SIO,OOO.
On Wednesday, the “Model Ten,” 18 horse
power, run rings around the “E. M. F.”, win
ning second place against a 40 horse-power
Chalmers-Detroit.
