TYRO.
The name Tyro does not seem to
suit some of the people of this sec
tion. Some are making efforts to
change the name. They do not
wish to l>e so long in the primary
grade, for as long as they are a Ty
roan they think they cannot ad
vance. There’s not a teacher in
Jackson county hut who is a Tyro
in some branch of study. That is,
if he or she is progressive. Tyro
means a beginner. When you have
completed one study you art' a be
ginner in another. So long! Change

comes well recommended and with
the co-operation of the patrons,
which is very promising, we will

The cotton crop is about all out
and sold. Gathering of corn, sew
ing of wheat and turning land keeps
us farmers busy. We have little
time to read advertisements or pol
ities. But 1 must say politics in
last week’s News was all right. It
had the right tone, correct time and
full measure.
The road in North Tyro was lin
ed with men, women and children
Wednesday morning to see the great
national automobile race. They
came and passed in Hying colors
without an accident to our knowl
edge. Fifty-one, all told, made
the dust fiy. The traveling public
stayed off the road, which was very
wise. There was much cheering as
they passed by. 1 would not fail
to mention that our car had a
“Billy Possum,” 1 guess he travel-
ed faster on this trip than ever be"
fore in his opossum life. If the
people (me to) had stayed at home
and worked for the three hours that
they were passing Jackson county
could have picked SI,OOO worth of
cotton or more.
We place our point of advance

and brook no opposition. If a
mountain gets in the way we blast
through or climb oyer, if stones get
in our way , they are thrown aside
as trash. If the stone be a sorry
fellow in our midst we move him
as early as possible (1 have been ex
pecting to move myself.) If it,s a
faulty candidate we help to keep
him at home with his wife and ba

playing a game not of chance but
in reality; in baseball lore Tyro
is at the bat, our opponents are

j ball as a rainbow or to the right or
left. Tvro, dauntless and sure of
his power, hits; away goes the ball
and a home run. Tyio is scoring.
