operative Union met at the usual
place of meeting Saturday night.
The Arcade Debating Society
meets next Saturday night.
Sunday school at Arcade Sunday
at 3 p in.
Mr- and Mrs. K. H. Bylee, of
Statham, spent Sunday here as the
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willie
Fulcher.

tended a birthday sociable at the

Guest Monday night, the occasion
being the 21st birthday of their
daughter, Miss Rebecca. The sup
per was very elaborate indeed, and
everybody present enjoyed the oc
casion to the highest possible de
gree.
While attending city court last
week as a juror I liked the business
way in which Junge W. W. Starks
runs the city court. He makes a
tine presiding officer. J. D. Pike
acted as clerk and made a good one.
Sheriff Collier had everything ready

The thirteenth annual conven
tion of the Georgia Federation of
Women’s Clubs opened in Elbertor
Wednesday morning with women
in attendance from all parts of the
state.
Resolutions.
The Supreme Architect of the
Universe has seen fit to call from
earthly labors one of our honored
and beloved brothers. Brother J. H.
Kilgore, whose death occurred on
September 22nd, 1909.
Brother Kilgore had been a mem
ber of Winder Lodge, No. 338 F.
and A- M., for twelve years, most
Of this time filling important offices
in this lodge, first as secretary,
later as treasurer, which latter po
sition he held at the time of his
death. His life was one of devo
tion to his family and usefulness to
church and community.
For several years prior to his
death lie had been a sufferer from
physical ailment which he bore with
characteristic fortitude and patience.
In his earthly labors he builded
well a character that will be treas-
ured by friends, brethren and
family. His memory will always
be cherished by those w'ho knew him.
In the celestial lodge above, in that
building not made with hands,
eternal in the heavens, may it be
the lot of his brethren there to meet
and greet him. Be it therefore
Resolved, That in the death of
Brother J H. Kilgore, this lodge
has lost a useful and influential
member.
Resolved, That the sympathy of
this lodge be extended to the be
reaved family.
Kesolved that a page of our min
ute book be inscribed to his mem
ory.
Resolved, That these resolutions
lie printed in the Winder Weekly
News.
