being repainted.
After a visit to Doii Woods,
Josh Tye left Wednesday for his
home in Atlanta.

Mrs J. W. Wood left last Sun
day for a ten days visit to New
York, sight seeing.
Little Laurie Lou Smith spent
last week in Atlanta with her

Miss Florence Morrison re
turned Saturday from a visit to
friends in Henry county.

at this writing with fever. Her
friends hope for her a speedy
recovery.

Col. A. W. Lane and family,
will return this week to Macon,
after a pleasant stay with Mrs.
Janie McKibben.
Miss Mattie Sue Ham leaves
Saturday for Monticello, where
she has accepted a position in
the public school.
Mrs. J. Groodzinsky and sweet
little daughter returned Monday
night from a week’s stay with
relatives in Atlanta.
Mrs Frank House and children
arrived Sunday night from
Brookside, Ala., and are visiting
Capt. and Mrs. Walthall.
Miss Claire Harden who has
been the guest of Miss Ernestine
Dempsey left Saturday for a
visit to friends in Athens.
After a visit to relatives and
friends in the city, Prof. Douglas
Watson left Monday morning for
his home in Raleigh, N. C.
Mrs. Mattie Plunkett and chil
dren, Clarence and Sara, spent
last week very pleasantly in Ma
con with friends and relatives.
Mrs. Carswell and son, Mr.
Clay, are expected Saturday.
Mrs. Carswell has been in Macon
with her son for several weeks.
Miss Maggie Manley returned
Monday to McDonough after a
visit to her sisters, Mrs. George
Kinsman and Mrs. Frank Out
house.

Friends of Mrs. Lee Chestnutt
are sorry to know she is sick at
the home of her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Carmichael on Mul

Mr. R. N. Etheridge who has
been in New York for the last
three weeks buying his fall and
winter goods, will arrive Satur
day evening.
Rev. George Nichols and wife
who have been entertained de
lightfully the past week by Mr.
and Mrs. S. P. Nichols, left Sun
day night for Macon.

daughter, Thelma, arrived Tues
day night from Atlanta, to be

Miss Felicia Morrison came in
Friday afternoon from her school
at Union Point, accompanied by
Miss Essie Leverette. They re
turned Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Oliver Higginsof Birming
ham, Ala., is visiting his sister,
Mrs. Lizzie Byars, who will ac
company him home next Friday,
to be gone several weeks.
Dr. Nelson and wife came Sat
urday and stopped with Mr, F.
S. Etheridge while in the city.
Dr. Nelson ably filled the pulpit
at the Baptist church Sunday.
Miss Hazel Holt of Eatonton,
has been elected by the school
board to fill the vacancy of Miss
Arden, who had to, resign on ac
count of her brother’s illness.
Capt. and Mrs. L. D. Watson,
who have been visiting Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Watson in Coldwater,
Michigan for the past two weeks
are expected home this week.
Miss Lizzie Bell Farmer and
Emmie Young Conyers, two popu
lar young ladies of Newnan, who
have been guests at the Wigwam,
were entertained Wednesday
evening by Misses Mary and
Rosa, and Mrs. Park Newton.
Mr. and Mrs. Reid of Eugene,
Oregon, and Miss Alberta Yocky
of Chicago, are visiting Mr. and
Mrs. Raymond Carmichael. Miss
Yocky will return the last of the
week, while Mr. and Mrs. Reid
will remain in the city for sever
al week*
Mr. Whit Russell, of Milledge
ville, has accepted a position
with the Star Store and will come
on September Ist. Mr. Russell
is an old Henry county boy and
his friends are glad to have him
back in this section of the coun
try again. _

pression and voice in Baltimore,
Miss Ethel Walthall returned
home last Saturday. She will
leave the latter part of the week
for Carrolton, where she will take
