From Jackson to Griffin
Being Surveyed
-
•fcjwners of the Old Road Bed From
Jackson to Griffin are the
Surveyors Have
Most of Right=of=
Ways.
The engineering corps for the
electric line to Griffin passed up
Third street Tuesday on their
survey to Griffin,
j The two captains, L. W. Rob
ert of Atlanta and W. F. Smith
||mith of Flovilla are in charge of
■he party,
Bfitith. he said: “It was through
Khe engineering skill of Captain
Bbbert that Mr. Machen was
Lnabled to build a railroad from
mlacon to Athens, a distance of
100 miles, with a side of meat
and a box of crackers. They
were also promoters of the
A. B.Afc A. and were on that
work when Mr. Machen died.
Captains Robert and Smith are
the owners of the old road bed
from Jackson to Griffin, and they
say they have about 90 per cent,
of the right-of-ways, say
they have bought the side ot
meat and box of crackers for
this road and intend to push it
through to a successful comple
tion.
This road is certain to be built
tow or later. Because the
failed once is little rea
why it should necessarily
:ail in each succeeding effort.
Public-spirited citizens will
lend their cooperation, and all
Jackson should get behind the
movement and offer every en
couragement to the faintest pos
sibility of its realization. A
spirit like this is the spirit which
‘fdoes things” and will almost
in itself cause the construction ot
this road.

RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED BY
FLOVILLA BAPTIST CHURCH
: It has pleased God to take
from our midst, Mrs. J.- L.
Bryant, familiarly known as
“Aunt Nug,” who for many
years has been a faithful mem
ber of this church.
Her ,face reflected the light of
God’s Kingdom as she moved
among us while on earth. Her
work was simple and true.
Wherever and whenever she
heard her Master’s voice calling
for service she ever gladly
responded.
“I will go where you want me to
go, dear Lord,
I will do what you want me
to do.”
And because of her constant
and untiring service in the inter
est of this church, we must
needs place upon the records
some memorial of that life,
though the words will fall far
short of measuring our loss,
therefore be it resolved:
1. That the passing away of
our dearly beloved sister, Mrs.
Bryant, is a bereavement to our
church, which in the providence
of God, His infinite goodness
alone can explain, for He it was
who gave His servant to us and
He it w as who called her home
to rest.
2. That the heartfelt sympa
thy of this church is extended
to the family and friends of onr
sister in their great sorrow. It
is our prayer that the same
Heavenly Father to whom her
spirit was ever lifted in supplica
tion, will guide and keep them
through this hour of trial and
loneliness.
3. That the secretary be in
structed to spread a copy of
these resolutions upon the min
utes of this church, and that a
copy be forwarded to the family
oj the deceased.
