joyed.

to Maryville, Tenn., where he
resumes his studies the 4th of
January, after spending the holi
days with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. G. I. Watkins.

Avery enjoyable event that
marked the Christmas tide was
the pretty party given Monday
evening by Miss Myrtice Arnold
at her home, “Breezy Heights,”
in honor of Miss Dovie Bryans,
who is spending the holidays at
home. The reception room was
bright with emblems of bells,
holly, wreaths and mistletoe.
Vases and baskets of narcissi and
brilliant poinsettas adorned the
large room in which the guests
assembled, where a delightful
course luncheon was served. The
hostess was assisted in enter
taining by her mother, Mrs. W.
H. Arnold, Miss Mary Cleveland
and Mrs. Bessie Bryans.
A large and most elaborate af
fair of Christmas morning was
the annual breakfast party at
which Misses Collier and Cleve
land entertained at their home,
“Rock Castle.” The event was
one of charming hospitality,
which was given in honor of Mrs.
M. L. Smith’s house guests and
a few invited friends.
The table centerpiece was an
artistic arrangement of brilliant
poinsettas and ferns and a border
of narcissi encircled the mirror,
which completed the artistic dec
orations.
Mr. B. A. Collier, of New York
city, is visiting relatives here.
Later he will leave for a visK.to
Albany.
Miss Myrtice Arnold will leave
Thursday for a six weeks visit
to friends in Lakeland, Tampa
and St. Petersburg, Florida.
